No way you get Foote just by retaining half his salary

No way is Edler netting you Cal Foote, If Detroit wont get him for Green Edler surely isn't getting him either.

Edler is playing some of his best hockey in recent years right now and it seems like Tampa is interested in acquiring him. Also I forgot to mention that Edler for Foote would be the base with VAN either taking on a bad contract or adding more.

Never once heard that Tampa is interested in acquiring Edler, And i live outside of Tampa the Bolts are looking for a top 4 RHD not LHD like Edler.

Edler needs to waive and doubt he does. We already have two retained salaries no? Vanek will yield a late 2nd at best.

Bob Murray has made it pretty clear that he has no interest in moving a 1st round pick, especially for a UFA.

Really, now that the Ducks are healthy, they have a pretty solid top 9.

Did not know that... Heard the Ducks were kicking tires on Vanek so I thought this might be a possibility... Thanks for letting me know...

    Late back to the party...

Yeah, I heard that the other day, but looking back, last year was the first time that BM has moved a 1st rounder at the deadline, and that was for a player that he intended (and then did) to sign. I can't remember where I saw it, but he basically said that the organization ripped apart the farm once and left themselves in a horrible situation, and that he has no intention of doing it again.

If anything, I'd say he maybe picks up a depth dman and/or a bit of forward depth (Though, they're apparently deeper up front than I had though since they were able to hold on through the first half of the season when they were plagued by injuries).
