Tavres, The Knight In Shinning Armor

Created by: carlcataclysm
Team: 2018-19 Vegas Golden Knights
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2018
Published: Feb. 15, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This Vegas team has shocked the world I see no reason why any player wouldn't want to go there right now.

With there amazing start to their franchise and the crazy cap space they are going to I'd be shocked if they didn't keep their foot on the gas and go after some elite players.

This team would be the hands down favorite from the west next year.

Before you go crazy about the Tavres, Kane and Carlson Contracts, consider this even after all those moves they still have 3mil in cap space. They have they space why not use it.

12.5 to land Tavres is not unthinkable.

7mil for Kane is because of his intangebles, toughness, grit, willingness to fight as well as crazy speed and power with silky hand and a great shot.

8mil for Carlson is a big jump but he's almost a point a game defensemen right now has more points than Doughty and is only minus 2.

I did shoot a little high purpose, but I don't see him signing for anything under 6mil that's for sure.

I could see a scenario where the Knights go hard for at least 1 top UFA, but I doubt they'd successful sign all 3. Seeing as George McPhee drafted with character in mind when he brought this initial team together in the Expansion Draft, I doubt they'd be interested in Evander Kane when there are far better options out there such as JVR, or their own James Neal. Considering the year Karlsson and Haula are having, I think a top flight defenseman like John Carlson, would be the higher priority, considering Tavares may not even make it to free agency.

Everyone brings up Character when its comes to Kane, but honestly he's matured, that phase of his life is over he has been nothing but great in the community this year, and he's one of the most well liked guys in the room. The reasoning for Kane over Neal is that Kane is in his prime only 26. but you are probably right that there slim chance they land all three.

Where are you collecting all this positive Kane info? I am getting my info from media reports and social media accounts. As for well liked guy in the dressing room, maybe speak to Justin Falk.

Kane in Vegas? Might be too many temptations? I could see Tavares in Vegas, but Carlsson seem like an overkill. Why does Arizona give up on young Dvorak?

I live in western NY, I get all the news about this team. The Justin Falk issues was caused by Justin falk. Bogosian got hurt on a play with Kane. Bogo and Kane have played there entire careers together and are great friends. Kane was upset he hurt his friend. Later in the practice Falk High sticked kane in the face in front of the net, Kane told him to keep his stick down. the next time falk was up he high sticked another sabre in front the net and Kane yelled from the neutral zone "keep you F***ing stick down" and Falk just lost it and charged Kane yelling at him. Who would have though competitive guys on a professional sports team might get mad at each other from time to time. Pominville even said it was good to see passion coming out in practice.

Yet somehow someway, different Canadian-based media outlets still talk about Kane's bad attitude and locker room issues - I could not tell you why or where or how they get that information. I still think Vegas would prefer familiarity and chemistry and try to resign Neal even though he is older.

Idk media like story's, a bad attitude kane is a better story than boring good Kane lol, The report I conveyed to you came from Marty Biron who is at most practices and reports about practice for WGR 550 and MSG Buffalo

This makes sense, but with the salary cap going up three to five million dollars and only a few elite free agents I kind of see Tavares getting 15 x 8 on the open market, Carlson getting 9x8, Miller reupping reasonably before hitting free agency, and Vegas promoting Thomas Hyka to a top six role next fall, out of camp, while their three first picks try out the AHL.

That gives them an extra defenseman, so I think they can trade one of McNabb or Theodore (plus different numbers of picks (both are very good, but Theodore is five years younger, and will be RFA after his current deal, so Theodore and a 1st would be enough, if it's McNabb, they throw in a 1st, 2nd, Hyka, and maybe Dansk?) for Carlson at the deadine, have three right handed defensemen in the playoffs this spring, and sign Carlson more inexpensively, before July.

Carlson played with Schmidt to his left in Washington a bit last year, and did pretty well together. Schmidt is palying 23 minutes per game with Vegas this year. Carlson is playing 25 in Washington and is 3rd among defensemen in scoring with 45 points. He also starts most of his shifts in the defensive zone, and has more even strength points this year than Mike Green and Duncan Keith put together, so he's not a one trick pony or a power play specialist, although he does have 23 points on Washington's power play this year.

I mean, sure, if Tavares is available, he's a more valuable rental player, but I think as far as guys who could really be moved at the deadline, Carlson is the best fit for a team like Vegas that has ten left handed defensemen and only two righties. As good as Schmidt is on the right hand side, he's left handed and is a little bit more effective, defensively, on the left hand side of the ice.

It's like. you're saying only the top UFAs are going to get that money, instead of being spread out over 23 man roster. Even Hart winner McDavid got "only" 12.5m

Because news outlets can't ever change their opinion on something.

I think kane (and maybe mccabe) gets traded to vegas before deadline (for 1st and some change) and resigns with vegas, so vegas can pass on resigning one of their expiring defenseman. i also think tavares leaves NYI and joins this vegas team.
