Description
Just trying something original! real crackpot idea here ;)

Chicago trade: So this trade is under the assumption that CHI are still going for the cup next year. MTL FULLY accepts every penny of the Seabrook contract, no retention whatsoever! CHI saves $4mil in cap space next year along with getting a depth puck mover and the cheapest 20 goal scorer on the market, and then their off the hook of Seabrook $6.875mil cap hit for the next 6 years afterwards! The cost for doing this? This years lottery pick, unprotected. It's a high price to pay for sure. but before people criticize the deal, The only thing that's been hurting the Hawks over the years is that they are constantly having to give up solid player to stay under the cap. Giving CHI $6.875mil in cap space is a dangerous move. Would it be worth giving up a top 10 pick? Maybe....

New Jersey trade: ok this one is me really reaching lol I highly doubt the Devils trade their first, but after acquiring Seabrook. Petry would have to go, and he'd be easier to move then Weber. The Devils are also in a wild card spot at the moment. and this deal from MTL's perspective is banking on NJD falling out of the race, but sending them a top 4 D would really help with their playoff push, so it's also counter-intuitive lol But if NJD do fail to make the playoffs! MTL get a nice top 15 1st rd pick out of this. and to help out the Devils even more, and although the odds are very low, but if the Devils win one of the top 3 lottery picks, they can differ the pick.

So these deal essentially gives MTL 2 lottery picks and a chance at a top 15 pick, those are great odds! at worst it gives MTL a top 5 (MTL pick),a top 10 (CHI pick) and a top 20 (NJD pick).

Why would Montreal want to take on another contract of Seabrook's size, especially for another 7 years when he will be 39

Like I said, it's a crackpot idea lol Is it worth it to get another chance at Dahlin? if they don't win Dahlin, Let's say one of the two picks gets you Zadina and the other Boqvist, is that worth taking Seabrooks contract? I think it's an interesting idea!

well if MTL can get a top 15 pick out of Petry, I don't see how they say no. I was more thinking NJD refuses. and in this situation specifically (as impossible as it may be), you can't have Weber, Seabrook, and Perty clogging up the right side with all three taking about $20mil in cap space.

Easy reason, Canadians can save housing costs for their players when Weber and Seabrook bunk together in a semi private room in a seniors home.

But really, Seabrook isn't waiving for Montreal and New Jersey can make use of their top pick better than Petry.

Carolina got Teravainen for Bickells contract. You think Montreal would give them a top 6 forward and a #5 defensemen for a 1st round pick?

Again just a crackpot idea, but that 1st is another lottery pick to increase the odds of getting Dahlin, or a guaranteed top 10. So let’s say they don’t win Dahlin anyways, but end getting Zadina and Hughes or Boqvist, would taking Seabrooks contract be worth that?

no. Chances are Habs would **** up and take a bust. Either way we are stuck with a 7 million dollar contract for 6 years
