Schmaltz #1 Center Next Season

Created by: Alankrz
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2018
Published: Feb. 7, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hawks will have cap space this off season to get some UFA's that will improve the team and compliment a newly developing younger core of Debrincat, Schmaltz, Saad, Duclair. Defense will be tough to fix. Jokiharju needs to get NHL ready quick before Keith and Toews regress more. Seabrook is already regressed to a depth D option.

That's a second line worth more than $25,000,000

This is a joke, right? #8 is not a center, he can't win a faceoff to save his life. This is THE biggest problem in my eyes is the lack a depth a center that leads to puck control especially on the power play!

No joke, and yes schmaltz is not the best at faceoffs. However, he has improved over last season significantly. That might seem like polishing a turd, but I predict that next season schmaltz will average 50% at the dot which is a slight edge over Anisimov. And his two way game is high end. His back checking is the best on the team and his positioning in his own zone and esspecially in the neutral zone is always disruptive to the opposition. 60 takeaways vs 18 giveaways this season and a +6 on a struggling Hawks team. I stand by my opinion of Schmaltz developing into #1 Center. This will free up Toews for more ice time on the powerplay where he can win some faceoffs and score more. Thanks.
