Realistic NYR Trades

Created by: MattC
Team: 2017-18 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 1, 2018
Published: Feb. 1, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I urge readers to use their hockey knowledge and think of past trades and the amount of times times will overpay for a player at the deadline no matter who it is.. Example: Andrew Ladd, Brendan Smith, Martin Hanzal etc.. All great players but not for that worth. Because of NYR trading the DET Ottawa's 2018 2nd round pick from the Brassard trade DET will most likely have 3 draft picks in the first 40 picks.
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. 2018 1st round pick (NSH)
  2. 2018 4th round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Nash, Rick ($3,900,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The Rangers will most likely ask Nash for his list of teams come late February and Nashville will definitely be on it. Nashville has all the components needed to win the cup this year. Adding another winger especially a player like Nash will put them over the top and will give them a better chance to take the cup home.
2.
NYR
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (ANA)
  2. 2018 5th round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Grabner, Michael
Additional Details:
Before you readers start to freak out over this trade you have to put this trade into a bigger perspective. Grabner is a top penalty killer and one of the fastest players in the league. That said, he's also top 15th in goals scored (21) all coming from 5v5 play (that's impressive). Grabner could honestly grab a 1st round pick if a team is willing to risk it all but for now I think a 2nd and 5th are pretty good.
3.
NYR
  1. 2018 4th round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Holden, Nick
Additional Details:
Boston has a great defense but with all the injuries they're plagued with (more to come most likely) I wouldn't be surprised if they made a trade for a veteran dman for their 3rd pairing. Solid trade for both teams
4.
NYR
  1. 2018 3rd round pick (SJS)
TOR
  1. Desharnais, David
Additional Details:
Before people argue Desharnais has been solid for NYR especially since NYR lacks so much offense at times. DD has been a contributor both on offense and defense this season and since TOR has a good amount of assets a 3rd seems reasonable. I wouldn't call TOR desperate by giving a 3rd rounder up for a guy who has over 55% FO (better than Kadri, Bozak, and Matthews this season) Let's not forget he's played all over the place from the 1st line to the 4th all season tallying 22 points in 47 games. The guy would be a perfect addition to a team like Toronto looking at the playoffs.

I agree, I think at least one team will offer a 1st for Grabner. Also I'd say take off a round for the Holden and DD trades. 5th for Holden and 4th for DD.

I think Nash #61 can net NYR a 1st & on organizations #3-10 prospect, agree Nashville would be a good destination (Also STL, SJS,DAL) So if Nashville 2018 1st & REM PITLICK ?
Grabner #40 could net a 2nd & 3rd, maybe over the course of 2 drafts 2018 &19. Maybe someone will overpay with a first. I think MG will have the most teams looking at him among possible NYR targets.
Anything between a 3rd & 5th for Holden#55 is a win, same with DD. #51

Very well thought out and realistic. I could see McDonagh fetching a similar price to Yandle when NYR traded for him; 1st, decent prospect, lower end roster player. Mac might actually fetch a little more, especially if they move him at the deadline instead of the draft or off-season. I'm sure a team would be willing to pay more for two runs at the cup with him than one, but obviously, more teams would be in the market for him at draft or off-season.

I like it. I think Vegas will make a push for Grabner. They can offer a first and another couple of picks for him. He would fit in well with that system of speed and fore-checking relentlessness.
