I could start by laughing, and totally dismissing the Malkin trade, as it is simply ridiculous. . . . .point out that NO team puts itself (down 2 players) that tight to the cap, and then ask WHY you would ever think Tavares would consider Montreal, should he ever consider leaving Long Island? I don't like your "odds" on any of these things, (PS. . . . never taking you to Vegas) Tavares wants to win. . . . something NOT in Montreal's future! But enjoy Price and that contract for the next 8 years. . . .

Lol.....OK well lets just assume this trade went through. (and i know it wouldn't). If JT wants to win, wouldn't a team spearheaded by Malkin, Drouin, Neal, Weber and Price not make them an instant contender?

There are a few things that I’d tweak. Neal already makes 5 million. He wants a pay raise. No way he goes to Montreal for less than 6.5 per. Danault isn’t gonna want a 3 year bridge contract. Maybe a 1 yr 2 mil, but 3 years is gonna get him at minimum probably closer to 3.5-4.
And the pens say no thanks. It’s not really extremely far off, it’s just a bunch of un needed pieces. Patches would be good on Crosby’s line and that’s the only benefit for the pens in this trade. Shaw would be a cap dump and doesn’t play the way the pens like to. Julsen would be great but we already have 2 great RHD ahead of him longer term. So it would be unfair to him and we would be able to let him show his true value and potential. Byron would be a solid top 9 wing, but after getting patches do we really need him? We’d have Patches, Sheary, Guentzel, Rust, Sprong, Hornqvist, Kessel, Hagelin, simon, Byron. Plus ZAR, DiPauli, And Blueger could possibly crack the line up next year. And the 1st won’t be in the deep 2018 draft and could possibly be a later pick in 19 assuming the Habs rebound now being extremely strong down the middle and adding a ton of scoring to go along with the best goalie in the game.

Okay 1st James Neal i gave him year more 30m Deal if doesn't want ill go get someone else easy has that.
2nd Pens are looking down road yeah right it doesn't look that good but having 2 centers at 35 holding alot of cap?
3 JT WANT TO WIN and his manager good friends with marc bergevin i think 11.5m is enough to land him

At 35 Malkin will be in his last year of his contract. It wouldn’t be such a big deal. And then we would probably re-sign him for a more team friendly contract. Not to mention, who knows how much the cap goes up by then. Pens need a 3 C. All this trade does is leave them without a 2C for basically only 1 necessity in patches.
And even if the pens look down the road, it’s still not enough for Geno. They would want your 2018 1st unprotected and probably your 2019 1st unprotected too. You also gotta know Geno has a full NMC. Why would he want to go to a rebuilding MTL. To get Geno you’d have to get all those other guys first. To get all those other guys you’d have to get Geno first. A more realistic trade piece for that package would be getting Letang. Which Montreal really doesn’t need.
