Instead of trading vanek for a 2nd-3rd round pick at the deadline. He trades him for a prospect that's fallen behind on the depth chart in Calgary.

Vanek can play on the second or third line in Calgary with tkachuk and backlund or with jankowski and bennett. His play making and hockey sense is great.

This trade makes sense for calgary because they all ready have a solid top 6 D core plus valimaki and Fox.

They really don't need kylington and he still has high potential He just needs to work on his defence.

Bad idea to trade Kylington for a 30+ rental that won’t be resigned. Kylington can be traded for a prime player like Kane or Hoffman as long as Calgary is also willing to add more.

Definitely not the best use of Kylington for CGY in the trade market. Vanek is a rental and doesn't fit in with the desired age group.

Vanek is having a great year in VAN, and has offensive chops, but he's got a poor work ethic reputation that Treliving and Co. won't be interested in.
