Trades look good. The Leafs would make the trade only if Ott DOESN'T report to Toronto...please

They can stick him in the press box for the rest of the season(I would hope at least!)

Only problem I have with the trades is now, the Blues will be struggling to get offense from defense. I can see why Shatty is a huge trade piece, but it doesn;t make much sense when you consider the following:
- Petro struggles to get SOG
- JBo is only good for a goal or two a year
- Parayko is only true Offensive D-Man now
- And Polak is no good other than being a defensive Ryan Reaves

Unless they go after a guy like Byfuglien, Faulk, or Eberle, I don't see a reason to trade Shatty. i want to get your thoughts though.

That's definitely a good point. The reason to trade Shattenkirk is they don't believe they can sign him when he becomes a UFA so I guess they're being proactive. And I agree with you on Polak, but I'm a Leafs fan so I'm hoping for a trade like this.

I would wonder if a trade for Sami Vatanen would make sense. Ducks have surplus defenseman and they'll need to sign both Vatanen and Lindholm this off-season. He would do a lot of things Shattenkirk does but would be cheaper.
