Description
Habs with a couple of trades:
Pacioretty for Nugent-Hopkins and a 2nd round pick; Big trade with Pittsburgh gives them an experienced backup, a 3rd line center and cap flexibility for Hornqvist (takes Hagelin's 4 million cap hit out of the picture. Gives us a solid prospect in Sprong and a 2nd rounder. Trade Hagelin (retain 50% of salary to help trade) for a 3rd round pick and trade pick for exprienced defensive forward. Send Niemi to Laval, replace him with Lindgren. Hemsky on LTIR. Still leaves us over 11 000 000$ in cap space for a defenseman to add.

Doubt EDM needs another LW and doubt theyll throw in there a pick. The PITTS trade could happen on TDL if they're desperate enough for a 3C. I just don't see them giving up Hagelin, his speed is a great playoff asset

In the PIT trade, it would be much simpler for the HABS to retain salary on Pleks than get Hagelin, and then flip him with retained salary.

The Pens absolutely wanna get rid of Hagelin. He's been useless since the start of last season. He just mysteriously fell off a cliff after the great playoff run in 2016.

I forgot to add Plek's 50% salary retention......so they get an expiring contract plus lose Hagelin.
