If Meier is only going to get $4.5M it will be for 2 years on a bridge deal. No way he takes a 5 year deal with that low of an AAV when he is almost a point per game player

Montreal laughs as they hang up. They are not going all-in. They are growing from within.

I used Elias Lindholm's contract as a comparable. The salary was 6.1% of Calgary's cap hit when the contract was signed. And at the moment Lindholm has more points and better PPG than Meier.

It's true that Meier will have a lot more points than Lindholm had the season Lindholm got his new contract. So for that I have to raise my hand for my mistake. $4.5M for 2 years doesn't sound bad actually. Even 1 year contract at that cap hit wouldn't be that bad due to Melkman's and Thornton's contracts will expire.

You may be right. Do you have an insight from Montreal's point of view that how this deal would go through? Or is Mete off the trade list?

im not too familiar with MTL's depth and prospect pool so dont quote me on this but I've seen a few AGM's with MTL fans looking for LHD's to play with Weber. If they are getting Vlasic in return they may be open to moving a young LHD like Mete
