In the ANH trade, you gave up way too much for Andersen.
In the COL trade, you gave up way too little for Duchene.

Agree with VictorLoovTrain. The last thing Anaheim needs is a Dman. Robidas and Lupul questionable if how much cap hit will be on the Leafs. Everybody is thinkiing 8.25m can be wished away.
Goligoski at 6m, just way too much. Harrington? The guy who after 3 years pro can't make the Leafs.

Yeah, plus the leafs don't really have many top 4 calibre players right now. Trading gardiner wouldn't make sense, he pretty much carries that second d pairing. Plus why would Anaheim want another youngish top 4 dman. Only way they would want him is if they get rid of one of Lindholm/Fowler/Vatanen. And the duchene trade is pretty unfair for the avs, would need more going that way.

LoovTrain, you could be right, just not a Gardner fan. He's got great skill but a defensive zone disaster and a absolute give away machine.
PalHal, Goligoski won't sell on the UFA market for a penny less then $6M and Harrington showed well early this season, I think he's a player. That said, he was injured from Dec on.
And, Gunshot, I think we need to address the Goalie first and Defence second to move the team forward. I agree they shouldn't move Gards, if they can't replace him. However, in the case presented above, we are replacing Gardiner's $4M with Goligoski (an indisputable upgrade) @$6M and adding Smith (IMO also an upgrade, certainly a defensive improvement).
