Hamonic wants to be closer to home. Toronto doesn't fit that.

Depends on if he only wants to be directly in Winnipeg. If that's the only trade he will accept I would agree. I figured people talk about Edmonton as being a potential target but the flight time is somewhat simiilar. Edmonton for example 2 hour flight. Toronto 2.5 hour flight. New York currently 5 hour flight.

He does not want to play in the East.

Regardless that trade doesn't get it done. They want a D man and an equal value player. JVR is not that. The leafs would likely need to move one of Gardiner or Morgan. That won't be happening.

I like Hamonic. Really wonder though about his choice of career if he thinks he can pick where he wants to play and work. Maybe he should look at employment at MacDonalds, where he has a bigger choice of destinations. Now after that rant. Let's say Toronto is acceptable. Maybe the Isles can't get equal value but maybe some quantity might do. Connor Carrick looks like NHLer RHD and inexpensive, and maybe a top end propect like Kapanen, Dermot, or Long Island guy Bracco might be fit somehow.
