There you go! You've got it now! It took 3 tries but you've got...it...
...Oh, wait...
Anaheim goes over the cap, lose Gardiner because they can't afford to re-sign him, lose Silfverberg because they can't afford to sign him, end up having to use picks or prospects to dump another salary BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP THEM. All to get an (very good) overpaid winger.
Willy Nylander is very good. There's no denying it. But he's not Taylor Hall. He's not in that upper echelon of wingers (the Kane's, Laine's, Panerin's), that are franchise players and are worth the best defenseman on a team. Similar to your Jones and Parayko moves. Does the value even out somewhat? Somewhat, but it doesn't make sense for Columbus to move Jones for a year of Gardiner and for the opportunity to overpay Nylander. Nor does it make sense for STL to move a great contract/player in Parayko for the same value.
I'm sorry to all Leaf fans out there that are looking for a steal of a deal, but it just doesn't work out. You're going to have to go out and overpay big time for a team to move someone like these guys.
