Description

This roster depends on the cap increasing to the 82M and players taking pay cuts due to Karlsson's big pay raise. The Pavelski and Meier ones are the biggest. In a normal scenario, I'd give Pavs 6M and Meier 4.5M±0.3M. Melker would be traded to ANA cause they like Swedes so much. Giving out 6th rounder increases the return to 4th round pick.

I will start this by saying, I want Joe Thorton to win the cup almost as badly as I want TO to win it (I'm a Leafs fan).

That being said, I don't see this team going anywhere. They essentially zero prospects, no 1st round pick this year and their depth upfront is not very good. Yes their defence is sick but I am not sure it's going to be as good as people think. Karlsson and Burns will transition well but I am not sure either are overly effective against big bruising cycle teams. Which is many teams in the west and even with Burns and Karlsson, I think their offense will be well below other top teams in the league. I don't want it to be the case but I have a bad feeling San Jose won't be nearly as good as they hope to be and they'll be undertaking a rebuild in the not to distant future.
