Description
I already forecast that Saad Panarin trade in 2017 summer. I have same kind of feeling again. I have a very strong feeling that bowman is trying everything possible to land Panarin as a UFA in 2019. Breadman reportedly wants to play in bigger city than columbus. He already once chose Chicago when he was coming out of KHL. Why couldn't he choose iyt again? He really loved the city and everything there. Secondly, hawks have been drafting defensemen (Boqvist, Jokiharju, Mitchell, Beaudin) with their higher picks during two last drafts. And why didn't Stan acquire aby notable UFAs this summer? He wants to save that money to Panarin. And when Bread signs, Jokiharju and Boqvist should one or both be ready to be impactful defensemen in the NHL. So, I just tried if Panarin could fit under cap with blackhawks when he hits UFA in 2019 summer without hawks losing key young guys. Let's assume Murphy, Hossa and Manning get all traded. If they want Artemi back they mustn't trade Anisimov then because they re very good friends. They could trade Anisimov in summer 2020 when C Jake Wise should be more than ready to take a 3C role on hawks system with a cheap 3-year ELC and they can also create cap space that way to make new contract for DeBrincat. What is more, there could also be a compliance buyout in summer 2020 so Seabs could be bought out for free.

I know Panarin is a superstar and he's one of my favorite players, but has bringing back players that used to be Hawks ever worked? Ladd, Oduya, Sharp, Saad, Versteeg, etc. Just because a formula won three cups, doesn't mean it still works. That's honestly the problem with Bowman, instead of pushing forward, he goes back to what is "safe."

The players you referenced were all flawed at brought back at sweetheart no risk deals with the exception of Saad who at the time looked like a great deal via cost control and length of contract. With that said... resigning Bread Man next year would not be a bad option if the cap complied. I will say this if we ever had the ability to resign Big Buff in the past 8 years no one would have objected. I think that giving up more assets to trade for Bread Man is a mistake I would only be on board with signing him as a UFA.

Sucks we wont have money to sign Cat, or Boqvist, or Jokiharju. Oh and look at that, we still get knocked out in the first round.
