Over the cap, Carrick takes a decrease in pay. This fascination with getting any RHD has no bounds.

Concept flawed, over the cap, questionable signings, some bad usages. This is probably the worst armchair GM I have ever seen.
1. You're over the cap. You set a cap and exceeded it. What the hell?
2. You lost Jake Gardiner, terrific driver of results, 2nd on the team in assists, and probably overall best dman, for nothing.
3. Connor Carrick is almost certain to get north of a million.
4. Kapanen > Brown. After accounting for sh% regression and games played, the two have had comparable scoring numbers over the past couple years. The difference? Brown's done that with Kadri/JVR as linemates. Kapanen's done it with guys like Matt Martin.
5. There's a really good chance Nylander costs $7 million. Better scorer than Marner at 5v5.
6. Dan Girardi as 1RD. This is like if you gave Polak 5 million a year to be 1RD. -4.0 Corsi Rel last year (Polak managed a -2.3). 0.23 ppg to Polak's 0.22. Polak did it in substantially heavier usage too (39.9 oZS% for Polak compared to 48.7% for Girardi). Awful microstats. Bad in his own end, bad in transition, bad offensively. No strong aspects to his game. 34 years old, so no hope for improvement.
7. Better options than Girardi for 1RD that TOR has: Ron Hainsey, Nikita Zaitsev, Connor Carrick, Justin Holl, Timothy Liljegren, Jake Gardiner, Morgan Rielly, Travis Dermott. Arguably Andreas Borgman, Martin Marincin, Calle Rosen. Playing 4F 1D at 5v5.
This had better be a troll.
