Description
To begin with, I think Stan will do something big this summer because if blackhawks miss the playoffs again he is gone. Central division is only getting better and hawks have to improve a lot. So, I think blackhawks can afford Karlsson and his new deal by shedding some salary and bringing impactful, cheap young talent with their ELCs that they have in Jokiharju, Mitchell, Söderlund and this years 27th pick. Karlsson is also exactly what hawks need with their aging defense group and PP issues. And why does trading EK to hawks makes sense for OTT? They need to rebuild because the whole thing there is such a mess right now and Karlsson has also requested a trade. OTT also will likely need a guy like Hossa to reach the cap floor because there will will be more players (Hoffman) traded too. If they dont need it, they can put him on LTIR easily. Then hawks draft Miller with their 27th pick. And add forwards with their 2nd and 3rd round pick. That defense in 2019-2020 season would be darn good: Keith Jokiharju, Miller Karlsson, Cole Seabrook.

I also literally just did a "Trade for EK" one for the Hawks: https://www.reddit.com/r/hawks/comments/8r3ics/armchair_gm/

I like it but I think Ejdsell might start the year on the 3rd line and Debrincat plays on the first line with Toews/Saad. Also for mine I didn't realize EK was a RHD - I would have put him on the top pairing with Keith in mine then.

Maybe?
But Ottawa wouldn’t take Hossa bc their owner is cheap
Or is his contract insured and they’d just be taking the Cap hit?

Hossa has a cap hit of $5.25 but is only really making $1mill on his last few years.

Giving up too much for a 1 year rental and without commitment to resign. As good as Karlsson is, I wouldn't do that deal nor would I commit a $11M a year cap hit for 7 years to him. Look at it this way, Hawks could get Calvin De Haan and John Carlson for that much and together, those two are worth more to an aging defense then Karlsson.
