Description
I am just trying some stuff. Please let me know your thoughts but please do not overthink it as being terrible...because I already know it is probably pretty stupid and it is really just for fun.

-I have no clue what to pay most of the rookies like Aaltonen...
-Matthews will make a lot, but maybe not this much. Same with Nylander, Marner
-Marleau would probably retire before this but I just included him because I could
-I really like Riley Nash so I thought maybe he would not be a bad addition at this point.

The Leafs would definitely have to sign or trade for someone else but I wasn't sure who or how, so I didn't want to add something useless or impossible.

Protection List from Seattle:
Forwards:
-matthews, Marner, Nylander, Hyman, Kadri, Johnsson, and Aaltonen
Defence:
-Reilly, Zaitsev, Dermott
Goalie:
-I think you know...

Additional Details:
I used Vancouver to represent Seattle in this case. Seattle does not take Kapanen, Gardiner or Sparks. If this does not seem fair, the Leafs can add either a prospect or a pick.

I am a huge fan of Brown but there is no choice in this case because Kapanen is just too good to give up. Seattle would probably take one of the newly signed rookies or young guys in the minors like Timashov or Borgman, but I guess they could take Riley Nash.

since we don't know when Seattle joins the league, why are you even thinking of this. why does Marleau retire, just so you can make a list of protected players

Marleau would be out of contract doesn't matter if he retires or not. As for we don't know we pretty much do, June 2020 is pretty commonly known as the unofficial date especially since thats what the ownership group in Seattle wants and well they're willing to pay so they won't say no to them.

I know that the signings were probably very wrong. I was trying to be quick. As for Gardiner, I thought that it might be nice to keep him for a while.

Also, I saw that other people had done similar things with other teams and I started to think about the Leafs' abundance of good young players who would be off of their entry-level contracts by then. I should have waited or thought it out more I guess.
