Description
The Bruins add another hard working 2-way forward to their already robust mix of balanced players who work cohesively as a team both offensively and defensively. Stone is a PERFECT fit for Boston’s system and is a dangerous upgrade to a team who already limits chances for opponents and is opportunistic in their own right. See additional terms and points below
Trades
BOS
  1. Stone, Mark
Additional Details:
Stone is a FA next summer, he may leave town anyway for a bigger payday. Here, the Sens get 3 quality prospects back in return and a 2nd round draft pick to which they previously did not have one in the upcoming draft.
OTT
  1. Grzelcyk, Matt
  2. Spooner, Ryan
  3. Szwarz, Jordan
  4. 2018 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
The Bruins acquire one of the premier defensive and overall 2 way forwards in the game. Stone is an absolute PERFECT fit in Boston and adds the toughness and grit that Bruins are known for. They plug him in on the RW alongside Krejci where they have struggled to find a Winger to pair with Krejci and is no question an immediate upgrade over the struggling Spooner. It was only a matter of time that Spooner would leave town as it just hasn’t worked thus far, and in doing so, the Bruins become that much closer to quality contenders for the cup with the scoring touch and defensive prowess of Stone. The Bruins will become that much harder to score on with another team-defense oriented player who works hard with and without the puck.

Ottawa’s not moving stone for that. He’s a rfa this summer. Spooner, a first is only a starting point for discussions. Add in atleast another top prospect if not two then maybe it could land us stone. I’ve tried mock ups with juicer offers than this and haven’t gotten any positive feed back. In other words with karlsson likely out of town soon, Stone is untouchable

Stones an rfa at the end if the season and his resign number is probably pushing tbe 6 million range. He is damn good but it will cost you. Hoffman isnt as good but will be a cheaper buy and probably will cost less than stone cap wise too. Yes stone is way better but you dont need way better. You need a reliable winger for krejci for a few years.

Szwarz offers nothing to the trade. Pick would need to be a 1st. And they’d still pass.

Hoffmsn cap hit is 5.2. I’d rather pay the bigger price and get the better player. Especially considering Stone is RW and a team need while Hoffman is a LW where our top 9 are set for awhile.

Would take more than this though.

Sure but if it costs Debrusk or heinen for stone and not Hoffman does that kinda change your mind. The more I think of it i wonder if a 3rd line center with a bit more offense is a bigger need than changing krejci wingers. The 3rd lines been a stagnant recently.
