so colorado gives up the younger winger with a longer contract and more points (who is also their captain) for an older winger with less points who will need to be resigned sooner... but montreal also makes colorado take two cap dumps in shaw and plekanec and asks for colorado's 1st round pick? thats highway robbery.

for a team like colorado, landeskog has more value than pacioretty right now. colorado has no need to rush their rebuild so why would they trade for older players when they can develop the young players they already have?

colorado has plenty of young NHL caliber forwards - adding plekanec and shaw would only take up roster spots that could be used to develop kamanev/toninato/grimaldi/greer instead

not to mention shaws one of the best secondary faceoff centers in the NHL with 55-57% win rate consistently as a rare Right handed center draw.
since Duchene left your faceoff numbers have been trash , shaw can help with that

you obviously never watched Shaw play or any of the reports about his value at the trade deadline .
he's 26 with 2 cups by 24 and a CHI team that hasnt been a contender since he left

Shaws on of the best secondary faceoff center in the NHL and he's 55-57% faceoff win consistently as a RH draw.
since Duchene left your faceoff numbers are **** and shaw can mentor wingers like Danault into centers he can make Mckinnon or Kerfoot
the best in the NHL

shaw isnt over payed most 3rd lines in the nhl have players from 3-6m

Did you seriously just credit Andrew Shaw for the Chicago cup wins?

i dont care how many cups he won while being carried by kane/toews/keith/crawford, hes still a bad fit for the avalanche. he would just take up a roster spot that would be better suited for the avs young forwards.

my main point was that the value of the trade is terrible. colorado doesnt want pacioretty or any other older players from montreal.
