Avs decline. Even if Mitts priced himself out of the Avs range they'd look for a better deal elsewhere and if he's signing that deal he's signing in Denver.

i think mitts for ullmark could happen but it would be ullmark with extention + geekie at the least. if ur getting casey then no reason to go get necas cuz he will want 7-8m/ also not a reason in the world to sign zadorov let alone for that. would be far better getting a depth vet or take a gamble on 2 iffy edge NHLers who have talent and let them all get time during injuries + battle with wotherspoon. casey will get 7m at least with some turn and instead of necas + zadorov adding lindholm would be better. zacha between lindholm with pasta, casey with march and coyle and trent pots heinen/lysell/beecher would be ur 3rd. braz + any vet + whoever is left. would be a very very very strong top 6 with young players who can keep getting better mixed with players who are at there peak for the next 2-4 years (outside of march)

Avs still wouldn't do it. They then have an arb eligible Geekie to sign the next year plus Ullmark's extension. They'd have to hope Geekie can give them what Mitts would at least which means he'd come in at a pretty high price. Then they'd have Rantanen to re-sign, LOC to re-sign, Kovalenko to re-sign, and probably numerous others.

IF Mitts is asking around 8 mil or something then maybe the Avs move his rights but otherwise I don't see it and at this price here, the Avs sign him.

i mean geekie wouldnt give u what mitts does but he would be far far cheaper and would give u middle6 production, u would move geogry so u would only add a few m to go to ullmark with an extention so if mit is asking for 7m and u have a 10m winger to resign + all ur other pieces it would save u cap. value isnt perfect but u have 8+ guys u need to resign and only 16ishm in cap (if nichushkin stay in the PAP) with half ur roster to fill. even with a few depth guys and replacing them with cheaper u are going to be in a different level of cap hell next season. if mitt gets moved u should be looking for someone to fill his role perfectly u should be looking for someone/ multiple players who give slightly less that are going to be much smaller cap hits. I dont think mitts will be moved but i also dont think u guys will get passed the 2nd round again with the cap crunch u will be in every year for the next 5 years
