I don't hate it. This just tells me that we have one or two more years of this "retool" and may not be good next season. Then it's possible the year after we should be more competitive and he has a full season to prove himself with a competitive team.
Options open up next year with some of these NTC becoming M-NTC so can trade some larger contracts out if needed

My guess is Montgomery was plan A and if Boston lost in the first round, he could've been canned and Army would've thrown him the bag. But that didn't happen and DB is Plan B. Don't think a reputable coach would willingly come in to a retool like this just to suck for a bit and Carle was a solid option but appears to want to coach college a bit longer

I agree. It felt gross cheering for Toronto in Game 7. Couldn't get to the shower fast enough.

I think they really wanted Carle, which is why Bannister is the guy for another year. I’d imagine this also mean the blues aren’t competitive next year, unless the defence is fixed

Boston could have fired Montgomery for losing a 3-1 series lead also, so they may have been waiting to see if he were available.
