Probably right. Yzerman is a pretty tough negotiator, but doesn't have much leverage in this case. I'd be thrilled with anything that starts with a 7 at 8 years.

I absolutely agree. One thing that really works in Steve and the Wings' favour is the internal cap he's set with Larkin. I genuinely believe that if he hands Raymond and Seider identical contracts to larkin, having those 3 plus cat all in under 9 mill is fantastic work. And raymond and seider under 9 will be a STEAL for a long time.

I don't think there's much chance Raymond is getting 8.7, but I could see that being the hard cap on Seider. Raymond probably deserves it, but there isn't a long enough track record to justify that. I'd imagine a hard cap of 8 for him, and if they can't come to terms around that, they unfortunately probably start looking at bridge options.
