Mikheyev is a 4.75 mil 3rd liner the penguins don't need.
Nor should this team retain on Smith. 2.5 mil in cap savings doesn't do anything for the team. If they can't get a return on him without retaining they should just hold him.
He'll be no worse than Mikheyev next year.
As far as trading Jarry. Doubtful. This is where Sully and the front office is really holding this team back. Bloom looks more than ready to take the jump. He should next year as the backup.
Not only because he's ready but because Murashov should be getting the starts in the AHL next year. They don't have room for both to really get the kind of time they need.
So I think next year is the start of bloom, and my guess is by mid season he might take over unless Jarry has one really great year. But if Bloom plays well and Murashov plays well. There is no reason to suggest they won't, Jarry's days are numbered by the end of next year.
