Some criteria was like they had to have either won 2+ games for goalies and skaters I did everyone with 9+ and then other players who are full time NHLers but got hurt (Dach, Kylington, etc)

Didnt include Backstrom tho since he is retired basically. I probably forgot someone tho lol

I used their hockey reference positions for everyone. I know Barzal now plays RW and others arent centers but thats how I do it. With the grading system tho you can plug in and see

One last thing. The difference between players is so slim. How can I compare Justin Schultz to Zach Whitecloud accurately? You know? Its just very hard so be patient lol. If the link doesnt work plz lmk

Also I weighed this season a lot but for players who have had strong careers, especially recently, I left high. Ekblad and Shesterkin have been bad this season but ae still high. I know Shesty is gonna be in the Vezina race again and Ekblad is still good.

Oh also didnt include any of the Canada players under investigation. Not supporting any of them!

Also already looking back. I was too low on Barkov and too high on Verhaege. Dobson should be a bit lower but truthfully idk who below him is better. I just think all of those grades need to be pushed down a bit. There is a clear top 3 for RD then a big fall off.

Next time around I need to really change the grading system. Make 80 a good 2C. 50 is what it takes to be an NHL player. Idk how im gonna scale it all tho but thats for me in the summer to figure out!

Forgot Jesper Bratt-- SICK!

What's the overall beside their name mean?

BC Rielly should be much higher IMO... And I'd have Matthews top 3 and prob not 3 but that's my opinion

this is a huge list though

the grading system is far from perfect but this is how i tried to do it:

Key (Forward Overall Grading):
100-Great One
95-Franchise Player
90-Multiple Time All-Star
85-Top Line
82.5-Solid Middle Six
80-Just in Middle Six
77.5-Just in NHL
75-Should Not Be in NHL

Key (Defenseman Overall Grading):
95-Elite Number One Defenseman
90-Multiple Time All-Star
85-Solid Second Defenseman
82.5-Good Second Pair
80-Great Third Pair
77.5-Just in NHL
75-Should Not Be in NHL

Key (Goaltender Overall Grading):
95-Upper Echelon
90-Elite Starter
87.5-Can Steal Wins
85-Strong Starter
82.5-Strong 1A in a Tandem
80-Strong 1B in a Tandem
77.5-Probably Getting Replaced

Rielly's rating to me is good imo. Right between multiple time all star and elite number one defenseman (meant for like 10+ years). I could see him moving up to where he is 7th or so for LHD, too. He is still an above average #1 defenseman tho

And top of the league is so hard. rn i think Mackinnon-McDavid are without a doubt top 2. Then #3 is hard. I hate comparing defenseman to forwards and Kucherov is playing out of his mind rn. But they are interchangable. Having Matthews #5 makes me sick, but if i had Makar or Kuch there id feel the same way. They are all 3A,B,C imo

What's the metrics being used to determine this though...

Your opinion or a metric system or a bunch of people etc.?

And my biggest reason for Rielly is that I'd move him above Dunn, Werenski, Morrissey and Theodore... But if a metric says another thing, can't complain

Thanks again for making this list though... Must have taken forever lol

I dont have a formula but when i made the spreadsheet i downloaded all of their PPG from past 3 years and career, goals per game and then various different stats on evolving hockey and moneypuck to measure defense

I am trying to find a way to code in a more concrete formula since I didnt accurately and evenly weigh each players defensive abilities. Unfortanelty I am not that good at coding so thatll take a lot of time

Ok, makes sense then why Rielly and Matthews would have a lesser rating, bc they had a down year last year whereas Thomas or Hronek would benefit from being consistent...

I don't blame you tbh... Coding is a ton of work and doing it on a level of 730 is a big workload...

I probably couldn't even name 730 player lol
