Description
Hart being shopped is really interesting, because the FA goalie landscape was looking pretty dry, and with Philly finally committed to tanking, we could finally see Hart go to an actually good hockey team (no offense flyers fans). All this is cool, but Hart has yet to actually prove him self, not in caliber, we know he can play at a level akin top goalie in the league, but rather his consistency is suspect. This means that Hart is an interesting case of risk for reward, with massive payoff if things work out, but massive loss if you spend your entire future on a guy who can't stay above a .900 sv%. Seattle is in a perfect position to go after a guy like this, with their goaltending already being questionable, but hopeful after the playoffs, a butt-load of futures and movable assets, and a solid D core and overall solid team to assist whoever they put between the pipes. Another reason I think Seattle should acquire him is because I don't want to see a Skinner-Hart tandem in Edmonton, who is the rumored front runner for him, as I think the team's overall lack of defense that is compensated with excessive offense is not a good team model for Hart to play on. The Grzelcyk trade just feels obvious for a cap shedding Bruins team and a Seattle team looking to replace Soucy.

Trades
1.
SEA
  1. Hart, Carter
Additional Details:
Seattle keeps their 2023 1st and still lands a potentially future franchise goalie (if he can play with some consistency), all without losing any big roster players, that's the exact direction this team should want to go.
PHI
  1. Driedger, Chris
  2. Goyette, David
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Philly gets a 1st next year, a 2nd this year, a B grade prospect, and a goalie replacement who isn't on a terrible contract, and isn't awful. This fits the teams new outlook after they finally decided to invest in tanking, and it'll be interesting to see if other teams have the supply of picks and prospects, as well as the demand for an inconsistent goalie who's still young. I doubt a team is willing to bid more on a goalie with so much risk involved, but I guess we'll see.
2.
BOS
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (SEA)
  2. 2025 4th round pick (SEA)

I dont know, Dreiger is pretty much a cap dump, hes got 3 nhl seasons and hes 29 yrs old, coming off an injury and making 3.5mil. I think he has negative value.

The 1st and 2nd and prospect is probably close to what it takes, but Im thinking the inclusion of Dreidger requires more from SEA.

And while PHI is listening to offers, they dont have to trade Hart and only will do so for an overpayment, and I dont think this is it

The Bruins could easily get more for Gryz than a 3rd and 4th, but he is on the block if you wanna try again

Boston declines. Offer that Hart package without the 1st to Boston for Ullmark and it’s a go.

Can add Grizz or Forbort for mid round pick to the mix.

You're probably right on the value given Driedger's addition to the deal. I think Francis rolls it back to start this season with Grubauer/Driedger as his tandem, personally.

As far as a return of value for Hart, from any team, I wonder how affected it may be by the Team Canada report looming overhead and what it may mean for players named as being involved, etc. Bit of unknown risk there to inquiring teams. Also, there are reasons Briere is gaging interest in Hart, one of which is the uncertainty of his play in general. Sure, Ersson has turned some heads and is a factor, but if his play were consistent, Briere probably wouldn't be trying to boost value and gaging the market as he is. JMO

I disagree on both fronts.

I believe Boston takes that offer for Gryz in a heartbeat. I’d prefer a late 2nd in the package even if we give back a pick.

I don’t think Boston takes Dreiger unless the intention is to cut him. If he’s included, Reilly is going back to Seattle
