Description
The idea is that the lineup by the season opener next year won't be this lineup, and some moves will occur during the season, and this lineup will be what the team looks like after deadline. Evans plays 50% of games until about the 25-30 game mark before taking the spot from Gustafsson full time. Wright will start in the AHL for half the season before joining the team and playing 3C for 10-15 games and closing out the season 2C, this allows him to naturally graduate into a 2C role. Wennberg and Gus are replaced by Wright and Evans by deadline, but are able to play 2C and pp2 bottom pair D in the meantime. I think the Schultz trade is probably the most realistic, and the Wennberg trade is pretty likely if they decide Wennberg doesn't fit by deadline, but the Winnipeg trade feels like a bit of a stretch. I tried taking advantage of a retooling Jets team, but I doubt they're willing to take an aging middle 6 winger, a slightly above average backup, and a playoff team 1st for an A- grade right handed defenseman prospect, but it'd be cool if it did. For contracts, I think when compared to a guy like Morgan Reilly (probably the closest comparable in the league) it doesn't make sense for Dunn to make more than 7 mil, and I think the 6.6-6.8 range is most realistic. Most of the other guys are on "prove it" deals; Sprong, Borgen, Geekie, Nedeljkovic, they're all guys who you can keep around for the sake of minimizing change and because they play their role well. Clifton is on the largest deal of the new guys and second only to Dunn for all signings, and I think with the way he fits the lineup, he'd be a great alternative to Soucy, and far more valuable as a D partner to Evans development and as a penalty killer.

Trades
1.
SEA
  1. 2024 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Top 10 protected, turns into 2025 1st if conditions are met
NYI
  1. Schultz, Justin ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Second pairing caliber offensive D who can support pp2, only costs 1.5 mil. Adding him to the bottom pair over a guy like Mayfield could spark extra offence for a team who struggles with that
2.
SEA
  1. Salomonsson, Elias
Additional Details:
I really think Salomonsson would be a great prospect for the Kraken as a future Larsson replacement. I think a mid round 1st, a backup, and a middle 6 winger isn't an overpay
WPG
  1. Driedger, Chris ($1,750,000 retained)
  2. Schwartz, Jaden
  3. 2024 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
As said before, pick is top 10 protected, turns into 2025 1st if conditions are met. Schwartz helps retool the offence if they choose that path, and Dreidger at 1.75 mil to backup Hellebuyck is pretty cheap for its value.
3.
SEA
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
  2. 2025 6th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Deadline move - Not necessarily the Blues, just whatever team is in need of a middle 6 two-way center for the playoffs.
STL
  1. Wennberg, Alexander ($2,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Deadline move - Opening up 2C for a (hopefully) ready Shane Wright.

Wow, that offer definitely makes me think. Solid offer for the jets. That being said, the jets may not be in a position to move solomonsson since he's really their only rd prospect. But for a 1st?...

If the jets go the rebuild route, this is a no brainer

Dreiger and Shwartz are cap dumps.....absolutely no value to the Jets.

So we trade a recent 2nd round pick who's their best RHD prospect for 1st and a couple things that don't help the rebuild, how would this be a no brainer?
