Are you sure? You may be right but this is my thoughts. It’s likely Connor Sheary gets traded by Friday because he’s on the expiring deal on a low cap hit so he’s gonna net them a decent return. They’ve said they don’t want to tear it down, they still want to compete next year. So Foegele is a good 3LW to have at 2.2M for next season. 10+ goals 30+ points career average. When next deadline comes if you’re wanting to move off him he’s an easy piece to move especially if you retained some money as well. The 6th rounder thrown in there is a good spot to draft a goalie. Does that change your view at all or no?

If you’re in a playoff spot come next deadline and he’s producing at that pace which would mean a good fit then you keep him. Either way it’s a win win.

I don't dislike Foegele at all but the caps have so many middle 6 forwards, Id be surprised to see them bring more in even with eller and Sheary likely gone.

The trade idea isnt a bad one but I think the caps will look to compete next year so I doubt they acquire assets to trade.

If Washington already had full time spots for Protas, Snively, and McM/Lapierre, I would agree with this (even though Foegele is a rat from 2019 that I'm still angry about). I think this logic could work with a different team, I just don't think that team is DC, especially after they've handed out extensions to Strome and Milano.

TvR for a 2nd/3rd could work for both sides though.
