Vrbata on a one-year contract would be a nice signing for the Oilers. In combination with Strome, Eberle's offensive production shouldn't be missed, could be an improvement too. Helps shelter Puljujarvi as well as buy a bit of time for Yamamoto.

I don't see the need to sign Franson, even on a one year deal. I think the Oilers gain long-term benefits by having Nurse and Benning rotate as fill-ins on the second pair, Sekera is out. They can sign Gryba for cheap and use him as the number 7, while perhaps giving Simpson, or Laleggia, or Osterle (if he's still with them) a shot once in a while.

If they sign Bonino they might shop RNH for a top-six RW rather than keep him.
