Description
Dvorak fits with Chicago long term.
Drouin should benefit from a fresh start and being in less of a pressure cooker. Decent crop of Francophones in Calgary right now. Salaries made equal through retention. No one’s giving a 1st round pick for Weegar playing less than top pair minutes. Probably makes the most sense in Montreal now, short of RHD, and Matheson’s old D partner. There’s also the ability to get creative with Lucic and Dadonov expiring contracts.
More realistically though, Hughes just goes after Huberdeau and Weegar as UFAs after the season. I don’t see either signing in Calgary long term. Probably makes more sense for Calgary to tank and focus on developing their younger players now. But sure, hold on to them until the deadline if you really want to hoping for maybe a better return. Maybe.

Toews is not a 1C anymore. I am also not sure Dvo fits into Chicago's long term plan considering Kirby and Cat did not. I just do not think this makes a lot of sense for either team. If the habs want to bring in Toews to mentor the young centers I would just wait for him to be a UFA next offseason.

Pretty sure Ottawa's offer for weegar is better than Drouin.

Pretty sure 6 other team's offer would beat Drouin retained.

You do know that when a team is looking at trading a player, they try and get the most value possible right?

Don't know where you get the idea Weegar won't play top pair minutes. The season hasn't started yet. Either way Calgary can get a better return for him as a rental if they go that route than Drouin.
I feel Chicago would be more interested in getting futures for their captain and someone will likely oblige.

Hahahah, "decent crop of francophones in Calgary" "I don’t see either signing in Calgary long term" Those two things are said in the same description... Huberdeau is the francophone, Pelletier, Meloche may not crack the roster. You can't think that would actually be a factor for bringing in a significantly worse player in a trade right?
