Description
Next season - Talbot/Doughty need new contracts. If Talbots gets more than $6M he walks, and Doughty shouldnt make more than $8M. thats an additional $1-3M or and extra $3M if cam walks.

I have ~$3M in cap space with no other significant contracts coming up the next season and have Pouliot's retention coming off the books that year.

finally, by this point Nurse should be ready to push for top4 mins and sekera becomes expendable, can be either traded with salary retention or bought out (Same with Brown). i dont care too much about the value in trades i was simply making this because some bone heads in the comments of another armchair gm team said there would be too much cap issue.

*Also keep in mind the cap im working wioth i 76M, which is what it is expected to rise to if the players use the escalator clause (always do) and does not consider if they use it again next summer

You said you didn't think you had a cap issue.....well you got one with 20 man roster. I don't know why Canes would see the value in 27 year old 6m Eberele or 22 year old, 2.7m Lindholm.

i dont have a cap problem, i only need 20 players to play games. players will be called up when injuries occur.

I like it though each team is retaining 2 million in the Kings trade its kind of pointless. Also McDavid, Draisaital, Bonino, Letestu, Maroon will all want more money

Yes you do, the Cap is already set this season for $73 Million. You are over already. And even if it was $76, you do need at least 2 more forwards and 1 more defenseman. Just a minor injury and you need a player to be available, and there is no cap relief for a short term injury. Add 3 players at $900,000 and you are at cap (for $76 mill). How good are the next 3 prospects on the farm? Do you think they can play NHL minutes? I don't think so.

Looking at $3 to $5 million to fill the 3 needed spots with players good enough to not have a significant drop in quality. You are $6 mill over minimum. And you haven't addressed the low signing prices of the UFA's you hope to sign.
