Hard pass to all three trades. Dude... why so overly generous?

Thanks for the feedback! Really enjoyed doing it and genuinely appreciate you taking the time to read it and leave a comment. My logic with the trades was:

For Scandella, they're going to have to pay for two seasons of them taking on his salary, so that's reflected in the deal. This actually seemed a bit light on the Blues' end, but since Bill Armstrong drafted Kostin, maybe there's some added value for the Coyotes (and only the Coyotes). I could see an actual Scandella-for-cap deal costing more, again because it's two seasons of salary.

For Barbashev, you're trading a single year of service before he's UFA, so the value is somewhat limited. Also, he's coming off a career year and seems unlikely to repeat that performance. He's a good finisher, but he's not going to shoot 23 percent every season. A 2 felt a bit heavy for the return, but a 3 felt a bit light, so I dropped Ylonen in there as a devalued asset who the Blues can possibly restore.

Pettersson has value as a defensive defender - his Hockeyviz metrics are not dissimilar to Parayko, actually. The Penguins are rumored to be shopping him to free cap. Alexandrov is a fringe NHLer at this point IMO, and the fourth-rounder is the 120th pick in the draft, so we're not talking about super valuable chips. The cap is the big loss here, to me, but if it's a long-term partner for Parayko at a reasonable cap hit and for fungible assets, it seemed like a decent play.

I'm not sure habs are the right partner for him, yes you're not asking too much but ylonen is a much needed prospect in the organization, I'm assuming you think habs want barbashev as an investment going into next year trade deadline but I'm not sure the return will be as good to the habs as ylonen who's almost ready for the NHL and will get tons of minutes if he's ready... barvashev will take away valuable playing time from the youngsters since they'll want him to have a successful year and flip him at the deadline

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you reading it. I agree, the Habs aren’t a great fit for Barbashev. I figured they had a lot of picks, and there’s a point where they will get diminishing returns from the picks. Especially with an already strong prospect group. They can take a flyer on a player who would provide some use up and down the lineup, while also not taking on a long-term commitment. That was my logic in that move, although again it was more about them having a lot of picks and it not being practical for them to make all of them.
