If you think you are going to have Vegas take Fluery would you not be better off finding him a home prior to the expansion draft. I can think of a few teams that would give up more than a 4th Round in 2018 and not force a $1,750,000 in salary retention. You have left yourself very little wiggle room against the cap so i think any movement of players would have to be without salary retention.

Teams that come to mind for a landing spot for Fluery.... Arizona, Vancouver (they would have to do something in regard to their cap), Islanders (cap concerns & a division rival), Florida, Calgary.

    Just a thought....

    Thanks for the feedback
MAF isn't going to be an easy move

Arizona- no they have Mike Smith
Vancouver- committed to Markstrom, can't protect MAF
Islander- no they resigned Greiss with term
Florida- has two goalies on big contracts, so no
Dallas- no, just went all in on Bishop
Buffalo- Lehner is great so they'look lock him up
Carolina- Just went all in on Darling

To save time, every other team has a starter under contract

    So Calgary and Winnipeg

Winnipeg would be fine for giving Hellebuyck a year or two in a 1B role, but they have to protect Hellebuyck so that doesn't work....

Calgary, well word is their GM doesn't really like MAF but maybe

LV and a soft maybe from Calgary is all they got

So ya, I thk they have to retain and throw in DP

They also have 1 million in capspace, which is more than they have had in 3 years

Now that was funny '1 million in capspace, which is more that they have had in 3 years'..... from my perspective my team (Sabres) have had a ton of cap space and look where that has gotten them.

I think you are discounting Florida I think they are a sneaky fit for Fluery (Luongo is 38). I also think Arizona would jump at Fluery as it would be an upgrade from Smith (35 years old and looked every bit of it last year). Acting as the Yotes GM I would take Fluery prior to expansion draft and work a deal to get McPhee to take Smith off my hands. Smith has 2 years left on current contract and Vegas can grab Subban from Boston give him 2 more years of seasoning waiting for Smith contract to expire.

Thanks for Botterill. It is nice to have a GM in place that has been involved in building winning organizations.

What is your opinion of Tocchet as a head coaching candidate?

    Good luck with Nashville.

Botterill is great. Total package and a great modern hockey exec...

Tocchet seems to me like a nepotism hire by Lemieux. He was forced on Johnston and more or less Sullivan too...

As far as his philosophy I honestly have no clue bc Sullivan seems to have his hands all over everything

That said, he has been doing a decent job with the PP
