I think both teams decline the Calgary trade. Toronto and Washington don’t do that. And Isles probably decline cuz our pick will be top 10

Number of 40 point seasons for Whitey: 1
Number of 40 point seasons for Beauvillier: 0

Obviously it's a hand picked stat, like White's 82 point pace this year, but I'm just trying to say that in no way should upgrading from White to Beauvillier cost a 1st plus. White hasnt been as consistent but the fact that his best season is better than Beauvillier's best while playing on a considerably worse team in Ottawa just shows that there is a decent player in there. On top of that it's not like Beauvillier's signed for considerably less money. Only 600k/year less against the cap.

The upgrade is marginal at best and if it's going to cost a 1st+ then I'd much rather keep the picks, spend the extra 600k/year and hedge my bets on White settling in to a middle 6 role.

    My response in another ACGM

I take White over Beauvillier every day.

Beauvillier is a career 0.46 PPG winger, 42.9% career faceoffs, is 5'11" 180lbs
White is a career 0.44 PPG centre, 45.8% career faceoffs, is 6'1" 194lbs, and most importantly, is a right hand shot

White is bigger and heavier, plays excellent defence, and has a similar PPG while playing for a rebuilding team. White is an exceptional skater, a relentless forechecker, and a reliable back checker.

Edit: I can add more, Beauvillier is a chip and chase forward wheras White can carry the puck up ice and into the O zone as well as chip and chase. White also lives in front of the net, and isn't afraid of the dirty areas. The only positive I can add in favour of Beauvillier is that he has a better shot, but that doesn't make White's shot bad, it's just not as good.
