Description
more of a thought experiment than an actually valid trade
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Martinez, Alec
Additional Details:
Vegas cant pay for Eichel to play right now, they're 4-5 mil away from his return, so this trade brings them a lot closer to the space needed for that to happen
VGK
  1. Anderson, Joey
  2. Dermott, Travis
Additional Details:
Dermott fills in the opening in Vegas's defense after Martinez moves and Anderson is a sweetener that fills Vegas's forward depth a bit for really cheap
2.
TOR
this trade is for cap space
    ARI
    1. Ritchie, Nick
    2. Seney, Brett
    Additional Details:
I can imagine a call for this trade going like "heyyy, yotes, how u been? filing for bankruptcy? oh you jokesters, so while ur doing that, we're just gonna send some things over if thats alright :)".
    3.
    TOR
    1. Dunn, Vince ($410,000 retained)
    2. Järnkrok, Calle
    Additional Details:
the trade is both cut down on expenses and fill in the right side on defense. I could've kept Holl on right side with Martinez and it would've been more efficient for money, but I wanted Dunn just because he's younger. Jarnkrok is here for a sweetener but $400,000 gets retained to keep under cap and it shouldn't be a problem to Seattle because it only lasts one year
    SEA
    1. Holl, Justin
    2. Muzzin, Jake
    Additional Details:
Seattle gets to fill their so far disappointing defense with a new d pairing that could become their first pairing

Muzzin & Holl both block trades to SEA.
The rest falls apart from there.

    Extremely poor value.

VGS might be in trouble, but Martinez (rather than dandanov and smith) probably has value. (And why do TOR fans think Anderson has value? His chances of being an NHLer are no better after four seasons of auditions. Or for that matter they're in such a hurry to trade Dermott? Theres a reason, and its that Dermott is just an okay 6th or 7th dman, and every team has a few of those)

Trading Ritchie will cost more than a meh prospect like Seney.

Your trading your 7.6mil second pair of a guy whos struggling in Holl and a guy who's looking older by the day in Muzzin for Dunn and Jarnkrot and they retain? It goes against what they've created and I dont think theyre interested in Muzzin at all, (not many teams are at this point in his career), and those two together probably dont get Dunn, let alone jarnkrot and retention.

Martinez isnt good and needs to be carried by an elite parnter to be functional and the seattle trade is a massive downgrade too.
    Toronto doesnt consider either

All teams decline. There isn't enough value here for any of them.

It is ALL very one-sided in the Leafs favour IMO. Shocking.
