Description
Second year of the three-year plan

Year one - https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2744288
Year three - https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2752352

- All of the first grouping of trades are from 2021-22 (Vegas, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Anaheim, Minnesota)
- Dahlin (8x$8m), Mittelstadt (3x$2m), Jokiharju (3x$2m) all signed prior to 2021-22 season
- Hypothetically, the Sabres won the lottery again and drafted Shane Wright first overall
- Owen Power, Ryan Johnson, and Jack Quinn all make the team
- The big move is trading for Mitchel Marner. Toronto gets bounced in the first round again and Marner is the scapegoat. Buffalo trades two firsts, a second, and Olofsson for a cheaper goal scorer and young, cost controlled picks. Marner gives the team a superstar in his prime with term that can play with Cozens on the top line as Cozens becomes the number one center and Mittelstadt becomes the number two.
- Tuch comes back and is the power forward the Sabres have desperately needed for years.
- Calvin de Haan comes on as a veteran defenseman that can be a solid bottom-four guy.

It never ceases to amaze me how Buffalo guys persist with this delusion that Las Vegas, a team with cap problems, would include one of their two cheapest NHL-quality defensemen in any trade.

Or Zuccarello, for that matter -- before his M-NTC kicks in, it's a pure NMC.

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way. I'm warning you in advance -- you're joining a cadre of not just one of the most knowledgeable fanbases on CapFriendly but also one of the most courteous. Wild guys are universally regarded that way.
