Description
I see Callahan as expendable, especially with the emergence of Paquette in the playoffs; they're pretty much the same player. Winnepeg assumes Buff walks next year and gains a solid left d, which is their weak side, and a gritty forward who fits their style. Tampa gains a dynamic right D, which is their weak side, for the cup push but as a bonus that contract comes off the books after the season. Tampa also trades Garrison because they need money coming off the books. They sign Erhoff to a modest contract and he may even be an upgrade.

    Retain salary on Carle and/or Callahan and switch the pick to the Jets you might have something.

    In the real world this would never fly, as this is such a Philly thing to do to Carle and Callahan. But I give it five stars here because you jettison those lengthy, expensive contracts (on aging players) for flexibility and a true shot at the Cup. Going forward, TB can retain Stamkos for $11M and not miss a beat. Nice job!
