Trades
1.
BUF
SEA
  1. Okposo, Kyle
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
The rumor that came out today was the Sabres have talked to Seattle about taking Okposo. Not sure if that is even possible but for this exercise we will say it is and send Kyle to Washington. If it wasn't for the contract, I would love to keep him in a 4th-line role, but unfortunately injuries derailed what was once a promising career.
2.
BUF
  1. Määttä, Olli
  2. Quick, Jonathan
  3. Vilardi, Gabriel
  4. 2021 1st round pick (LAK)
  5. 2022 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Miller is a cheaper option in regards to Maatta (especially true with Buffalo retaining salary) and produced better on a worse team in 2020-21.
LAK
  1. Eichel, Jack
  2. Miller, Colin
Additional Details:
Buffalo retains $1.9M of Miller's contract
3.
BUF
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
  2. Patrick, Nolan [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (PHI)
PHI
  1. Ristolainen, Rasmus
  2. 2021 4th round pick (BUF)
  3. 2021 6th round pick (COL)
4.
BUF
  1. Subban, P.K.
  2. Wood, Miles
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Buffalo swaps Maatta for Subban , taking on the larger cap hit for one season. The different is made up by adding Wood. Buffalo adds a third (because Wood is no slouch) and the Devils toss in a 2nd for taking on Subban's contract.
NJD
  1. Määttä, Olli
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (MTL)
5.
BUF
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Highly unlikely, but we will say Johnson waives his M-NMC to come to Buffalo. The team can sell him on playing a larger role with young, exciting talent. On the other hand, the team can sell him on flipping him to a contender at the deadline.
6.
BUF
  1. 2021 1st round pick (ANA)
  2. 2021 4th round pick (ANA)
  3. 2022 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
You can tell me this isn't enough, but a Sabres writer put out an article today about teams trading up to one in previous drafts and what it cost. When Vancouver traded up from No. 4 to No. 1, it cost No. 4 and two thirds, so I think a first and two seconds to move up five spots isn't unrealistic at all, especially in a draft class that isn't full of elite prospects.
ANA
  1. 2021 1st round pick (LAK)
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (BUF)
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (PHI)
7.
BUF
PHI
Buffalo retains $2.7m on Ristolainen's contract (forgot to mention that in the trade)

Prepaee to get killed by Philly fans.

That's an ugly Eichel deal. They just keep him for that.

You can only retain on so many contracts.

It is my best attempt at being realistic. If I included Byfield or Turcotte in any deal involving the 8th pick, Kings fans would have my head. I have a odd feeling that the Sabres will hold onto Eichel if they don't find a deal to their liking. Their management all of the sudden seems very confident in what they're doing and it is a very unusual feeling.

I've come to the conclusion that Buffalo fans might be the worst deal makers on CF when it comes to NJD deals.

Maple Leafs fans would like to challenge for that title. The number of times I've seen Severson for Kerfoot or worse...

Agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if they just keep him until the neck has been dealt with if that's the deal breaker. They have months before the NMC kicks in and even after that if he's healthy the NMC doesn't give Eichel that much leverage when his alternative to waiving is to be stuck in Buffalo for 3 more years lol.
