Description

I saw someone mention that the Sabres should be like the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA - take on bad contracts to acquire picks, then rehab those players and move them for more picks. That is what I am going for here while building a strong young core of talent.

They have retained $9.2m in the deals that I made

Buffalo selects Owen Power (D/Michigan) at 1OA and William Eklund (LW/C, Djurgarden) at 3OA. I would prefer to take Matthew Beniers (C/Michigan) at 1OA and then whomever of Power or Eklund at 3OA, but I don't see the Sabres doing that. However, I love Beniers and he is my top player in the draft. He screams Jonathan Toews to me.

A 2nd(a late 2nd, although it is a deep draft and the Pens won’t have a pick until the 5th round now) and DeSmith for 1 season of MAF at 3.5M..??

And he’ll probably resign in PGH on the cheap to retire with Sid in Pgh..!!

Seven of the worst trades I've ever seen on CapFriendly -- so many, it would take up too much space to analyze each one. And the Dumba trade, although an all-timer, isn't even the worst one.
