There's not too many Tom Wilson's available out there. Tanner Pearson would instantly be the most physical forward in the line-up or at least 1B behind Simmonds.

Ya, his 1.4 hits per game is really going to make a difference....

Physical play is far more involved than the hits column. I would expect that wouldn't have to be explained. To be fair I guess we can all have varied opinions of definitions. I don't think adding a Clutterbuck to the top six is what he had in mind. Someone that will win board battles for the skill guys and feel perfectly comfortable setting up shop directly in front of the net would be nice though. All things Pearson would bring, as well as his improved scoring touch.

The problem is its hard to explain because there's nothing to quantify it and largely its made up. You want someone who will win board battles for the skill guys but the numbers say Hyman is among the best in the league at it and Thornton not far behind this season when you measure by games played. You want someone comfortable setting up in front of the net but Nylander led the league in goals from close in last season and Tavares the season before that.

You want the idea of something, not what the players actually bring.
