Description
Its a pipedream, but this is more an example of how Id like to see this team put together. Im sure losing Chytil will be controversial, but hes not what Id consider ideal for 3C and Cirelli will inherit the 2C slot the following year when Strome becomes a FA. This team adds a couple playing capable tough guys to the lineup in Frederic, Clifford and Beaulieu.

fast is going to get more

if you trade for cirelli than why keep storme? they aren't going to be able to re-sign him. having three 3rd pairing LD isn't helping anything.

Strome is only there for 1 year, Cirelli can learn from him and Zib in the mean time and then take over the 2C role the following year. I have high hopes for Morgan Barron and think he can slot into the 3C role in 2021. The other option is to go after someone like Barbashev for 3C and let Strome walk.

The LD situation is essentially for 1 year because I fully expect Miller and Robertson to be ready to go. Lindgren might be a 3rd pairing guy but he played well with Fox, so you can leave that alone. Hajek is servicable, but also we might see Miller and or Robertson make an appearance in the NHL along side Trouba. Beaulieu is there to be a veteran guy with toughness, but obviously not really needed. The way its panning out Staal will probably rotate in and out of the lineup as a scratch. By the time the year is over we might see Robertson, Miller and Lindgren on the LD, which to be honest, could be worse considering the high potential.

Personally, I just want to see more grit on the team. When guys play us I want them to think, damn, and know that touching one of our top guys means someones gonna get their head taken off.

miller might be ready this season or at least mid way through it. letting robertson play a season in ahl is probably better for his development, but i understand where you're going with this.

i don't disagree with any of what you're saying. i wouldn't keep storme just to loose him for nothing though. he has value and if we aren't competing for the cup than there is no point letting value walk out the door for free.

Im sure theres a team that would give up a 2nd round pick for Strome, sure his numbers are a bit inflated playing with Panarin but hes certainly a serviceable center for a team thats rebuilding. If we could flip whatever we get for him, plus some additional assets for Barbashev Id be all over it.
