    I like both, it's not an overpayment with the retention Chicago is keeping which they can't really afford

    As a Detroit fan I don't think Detroit does this for a 5th it's just not worth it. I also don't think Holland or Dubas is going to ask Detroit to retain less than $1M on that contract. Now go up to $1.5M to $2M and give Detroit a 3rd and it could probably happen.

    I disagree. It's still an overpayment considering Murphy will be a UFA soon while they'd have control over Kapanen for much much longer..... the 2nd on top throws it even further out of balance.
    Not to mention Murphy is highly overrated here.

    Murphy would be the best RD on this team probably, the 2nd is a bit much, could see it being a 3rd for the retention
