Kaprizov probably wins the rocket
Just like the other 30 teams Minnesota isn't interested in Marner unless he comes with 50% retention or an extension for less than he makes now. And no Kaprisov doesn't win the rocket with Marner but Marner ends up with the lowest point total of his career and not just by a few points.

That should work for Calgary. It works for me anyhow. Chychrun on the top pair with Weegar on the right side should complement each other very nicely. Then we can trade Andersson if another team offers something else we need/want at anytime before the 2026 trade deadline.

Much bigger, more physical, comparable offensive skill, close to as many points while playing for a worse team in a tougher, gritter league and he's a western kid too. The Spirt were a top team in the OHL this year (2nd most points in the league) while the Hitmen were a bottom feeder in the WHL (3rd least points in the league).

+/- needs to be taken in context. Who he plays with and how his +/- compares to both his linemates and the rest of his team.

Yakemchuk > Parekh but it's good if the Sens prefer Parekh it improve the odds Yakemchuk will still be available when Calgary picks.

I'd say very skilled and quite good offensively but terrible without the puck. He's all flash and no substance.

Saving the flames is easy work
This isn't good for Calgary.
More small left shot forwards and an older bottom pair pending UFA are two of the very last things Calgary would be interested in. You have Calgary giving up the 2 best players and the better pick too for players they don't need. Raz and Kuzy aren't that old and their contracts aren't a problem either, there's no urgency to trade either one.
The plan is to get younger and bigger not younger and smaller. Especially not if it means taking on even more left shot forwards while leaving the team with only 1 first pairing defenseman.

Calgary declines. The only way they'd have any interest in Chychrun is if he comes with long term extension at a reasonable cap hit. Without that extension they can just wait to see if he gets to free agency a year from now and if he does try to sign him them.

No Trades For Marner Are Good So Dont Do It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Really? You wouldn't take a Saros for Marner trade? A top 5 goaltender and using the spare cap space on a top defenseman would be one of the smartest things you could do. Nylander is a top line player that could easily plug in for Marner and you don't lose a step</div></div>
The Predators would never consider trading Saros for Marner but they'd definitely consider trading him for Nylander.

Another ridiculously lopsided Montreal homer trade.
No chance Calgary trades Huberdeau with retention but even without retention this trade is terrible for Calgary and Utah.

Marner trade
Calgary counters with Huberdeau for Marner straight up. Then we flip Marner with 50% retention at the trade deadline for a late 1st + a 2nd/3rd/B prospect. To convince Marner to waive Conroy promises he'll only trade Marner to one of 5 teams of Marner's choice.

That should be enough to get Zegras.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Zegras is better than the player you hope to pick at 5OA in a weak draft will become, therefore Zegras is greater than 5OA.</div></div>

Yet another EK trade idea
Add 20-25% retention on Graves and Calgary accepts. Otherwise his contract is about 2 years too long for his cap hit and age to fit Calgary's future plans.

Calgary accepts your offer without hesitation. I can't see Columbus trading 4th OA though. I doubt they'd even agree to Markchenko and a late 1st (25/26 lottery protected) for Sharky.

Swap of overpaid dudes
Calgary would probably do this without the retention because a younger top 6 center is a big need right now but LA wouldn't do it. Retention is a deal breaker no team is going to retain for 7 years.
It'd make a whole lot more sense to make a trade that gets Huberdeau and PLD playing together. There's a good chance they're each what the other one needs to get his game going again. Two big French guys one a physical center the other a playmaking winger add a speedy goal scorer on the other wing and besides the French part it sounds like Huberdeau's old line in Florida during the 115 point season.

Hard NO from Calgary. Huberdeau can still rebound we just need to find a physical center who goes to the net to play with him and a speedy winger.

Im Doing It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>To be fair, I'd take the Tavares deal for Columbus. The rest I don't actually have the authority to speak on.
I know it's extremely unlikely Calgary moves Andersson, and it's more likely he's the next captain...but on the 10% chance Calgary does decide to move him eventually, what would you want/expect a return to look like? That's the one I struggled with the most. I'd assume 1st, top prospect, replacement NHLer, and more picks to balance at a minimum?</div></div>
Yeah the Tavares flip could be an option but it's a moot point since Tavares won't waive anyhow.
I'd say there's a better than 10% chance Calgary could move Andersson but it'll take a very good offer to move him before the last year of his contract which is the season after next. But what you proposed is way low.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>I think it's about right value wise.
I value Andersson - 1st(mid) + 2 x 2nds
Sharangovich - 1st(high) + 2nd
We get 2 1sts in Kulich + 1st(11th)
Samuelson is probably worth a 2nd
Strbak is another 2nd.
And you add a 2nd.
For me it works, but I don't have any Intel on either prospect.
Edit: after looking up the prospects I like this trade for the Flames quite a bit.</div></div>
Kulich - a left shot winger we need another of those like we need a hole in the head.
Strback - a defensive prospect exactly what Conroy stocked up big on this past season.
I looked them up earlier too. They're just more of what we already have on the farm.
Samuelsson - Like I said I'm not sure about Samuelsson. That's a pretty long contract they'd have to really like him and I don't know if they like him at all.
Don't forget it's a retool not a rebuild. Conroy won't just be dumping all his best players for picks and prospects.

The big question is what makes you think Conroy wants to get fired? That's exactly what would happen if he even considered doing something half as stupid as this.
