Hypocrisy considering Leafs fans expect a boatload of high value assets for soft Marner and his grossly inflated contract.

If Nashville decides to retool/rebuild they'd accept this though they probably ask for Schmid instead of Poulter.

The Utah Fighting Mormons
1. Calgary does this on the draft floor if Lindstrom or Iginla is still available at 6th. Probably a defenseman or two they'd do it for too. A nice bonus is it'd practically guarantee their own pick next year is in the top 10 again.
2. Calgary does this.
3. Calgary declines. After all the controversy around Mailloux ownership won't allow Conroy to trade for him even if Conroy wants to do it.
4. Calgary declines. Weber is washed up and a 2nd isn't nearly enough to take on 2 years of his nearly 8 mil per year contract.

Devils
Calgary declines.
Devils fans need to learn how trades work. You can't just pile up a bunch of things you don't want to get what you do want. You have to give the other team something they want too.

An attempt
Calgary would have to very seriously consider this especially since Necas is a right shot, has good size and can play center too. Pretty much exactly what Conroy is looking for in a forward.
Between Zary, Sharky and Necas hopefully at least one of them will become a top 6 center.
Conroy seems to really like Eastern European players too, Russians, Belarusians, Slovaks and Czechs. Gotta wonder how much the Flame new Russian scout has to do with that.

Yeah they probably will try to make a big splash. I just don't see them doing it with Marner.

Stolarz was the backup in Florida. One of the best teams in the league.
Talbot had a good year on a strong defensive team.
Markstrom was having an excelletnt year until half the defense was traded away.
Goalie stats especially wins, save% and GAA are very highly dependent on the entire team not just the goalie.

You have it backwards. Flame's aren't trading away a top goalie for Leafs RFA rejects and a late 1st.

What makes you think Marner would extend with Utah? There's no way they'd offer that unless he comes with an extension at an AAV they're happy with.

They could but they won't and it wouldn't increase the trade return much more than a deadline rental price anyhow.
Just admit it. Leafs fans are delusional.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Marner won't waive to Calgary.</div></div>
He might when he gets a promise they'll trade him at the deadline to a team on a list of 4 or 5 teams provided by him. If he won't waive for that he probably won't waive for anything.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dh91</b></div><div>Wow this is bad</div></div>
What's bad is all you Leafies who think you're going to get a huge haul for a soft player you want to get rid of who doesn't perform in the playoffs, has a huge contract now and is UFA a year from now.
He's a rental and he'll get a rental price. That's it.
Don't pretend 7.9 mil in cap space including 3 mil/yr retention for 2 years on a one of your team's biggest needs is worthless either. The cap space allows you to address other needs too, like defense.

Leafs

Lily averaged about half a point a game, pair him with a defensive guy and he should be fine.</div></div>
After the deadline Kylington and Pachal played on the 2nd line frequently (sometimes together sometimes with someone else) and did not look out of place on a much depleted defense corps.
Lily on the other hand the Leafs keep trying to use on the 2nd pair but he isn't good enough to keep the spot even on a team as poor defensively as the Leafs. He wound up on the bottom pair again last year behind Lyubushkin and McCabe at RD. Behind Benoit too if you count LDs.

Hanley got waived by the Stars not the Flames. He was actually surprisingly good defensively in Calgary, not just on the bottom pair either. Is he a long term solution? No probably not but he's better and cheaper than Lily. Then there are all the prospects who are NHL ready or close.
On top of all that, Lily is an arbitration eligible RFA with a 1.5 mil qualifying offer or roughly double what Hanley and all the prospects make. Hard pass on Lily, he has almost no value to Calgary.</div></div>
