Yeah, it all depends on whether Tampa sees Perbix as a future 4/5 type, or if they are going to try and add an RD in ufa. Perbix looked like a top 4 caliber player or close the season before last, but regressed some this past season. He's still on a cheap contract for next year, so if Tampa thinks it was more the new.degebaibe system and just a slump from him, maybe. I think he has the potential to be a solid low end 2nd pairing/high end 3rd pairing guy, but we'll see. IfvTampa looks to move him, a mid 3rd to early 4th is likely in the range, so it might work out.

Using another trade I saw, but maybe they don't get Dowd. He really wasn't someone I think Tampa would be that interested in anyway, but the lineup worked so I tried it out. If they move on from Jeannot, most likely at the draft, they should get a mid round pick or a couple of later round picks. They probably won't move him for that, but they should.

And since they've all worked out great for Tampa aside from Jeannot, Tampa will take that tradeoff every time.

They are more than set on the left, and neither of those RD are close to what they need on the right. Dvorak is at best a 3C on Tampa, and Beck is okay, but nothing special. As I said, Tampa declines because it is a large downgrade at C and not enough to get the actual improvement on defense that they should be looking for this summer.

No they don't. The move makes no sense for Tampa. If they need the cap space for other signings beyond Stamkos, Sheary, Jeannot and possibly Perbix will be moved way before Cirelli.

Sabres Playoff Push
Yeah, I don't see it with Rosen either, although he is a better prospect. Especially with a division rival, I'm guessing if Tampa was seriously considering moving Cirelli, it has to be something around either Byram(giving Tampa the top 4 dman they need from the trade), or something based on the 1st+one of Kulich or Savoie(which gives Tampa enough to go get one in trade or, if not, an NHL ready prospect and a pick they could use to help possibly acquire someone). Tampa could add to make it a bigger trade/more reasonable for both sides perhaps, but those are the pieces I believe it would take to even have Tampa consider.

Tampa declines. Krebs has very little value to Tampa and the 11oa isn't enough for Tampa to add what they need(a top 4 RD). They also have to now replace a quality 2C as well with a cap that needs to be carefully managed. They should just focus on moving lesser cap hits and adding a dman in ufa rather than having to add both a top 4 dman and an additional top 6 F.

Detroit maybe, the rest are not as worrisome. Tampa was an easy 110 point team this year with a healthy Vasy imo. They are still very much a playoff team and with the right adds, a team that can compete. I have a feeling they won't end up making the trade with the Jackets in this example, but it does address two of the team's bigger needs, a top 4 dman and some bottom 6 depth. Since they need the RD more, ultimately they'll likely address it via ufa, but I saw this trade and thought it was interesting at least.

Tampa declines. They don't need to downgrade at C, and they are good at LD as well. Beck and the 1st have some value, but not enough for Tampa to improve where they most need, which is a top 4 RD. The fit isn't great positionally for Tampa, even if the value here is solid.

You just decided to post a worthless comment acting as though you speak for the Sabres. You added nothing at all to the discussion. Maybe next time, add something worth discussing and you won't get similar results. The Sabres aren't good, so yes, as a player I wouldn't probably want to go there and likely wouldn't be thrilled if I was traded there is what I should have said and meant. The city of Buffalo I have no issue with.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>I would take that right now honestly. Mateychuk could be an option this year but likely starts the season in Cleveland. The Jackets also have Svozil who very well makes the Jackets out of camp. The Jackets also still have one year left of Bean and Christiansen. But Tampa won’t do it. Tampa has to know they may not even make the playoffs next season. They are in decline and should not be trading their picks away.</div></div>
Tampa still has one of the best cores in the league that still averages under 30 years old. They missed a top goaltender for nearly a third of the season and still had 98 points. Yeah, they ran into a bad matvhup and possibly the best team in the league in rd 1, but they aren't done competing if they make the right moves to address better depth and defense. Vasy being healthy, and hopefully having a better defensive structure, will also help.

I see the proposed trade as something for the TDL, since I'd imagine that they'd want to keep Danforth at least until the TDL, unless they think that he can be replaced by Brindley. My guess would be that they would like to keep Danforth and have Brindley in the AHL to start with.
All in all, I think it's a good trade for Columbus and Tampa Bay, though I imagine that this particular suggestion is more likely to take place at the TDL. But you never know.</div></div>
Yeah, I'm sure Tampa would try to make it work this summer, but if they couldn't and both teams were still interested at the tdl, maybe it could happen then. The only reason that I wouldn't see it working from Tampa's.side at that point would be because they spent assets/cap space to improve the blue line/F depth over the summer, and now they wouldn't have the room to make it work cap wise.

If Cirelli was being traded for a top 4 RD with some term or assets that could then get that player, maybe. It's also funny seeing ppl on Herr who clearly just stat watch him saying it's a bad contracts. I don't see Tampa trading him anyway, and as long as they trade Sheary, Jeannot, and maybe Perbix, they'll be able to upgrade the defense.

Tampa declines. Cirelli is a part of the core and a key member of the top 6. The only way that Tampa is listening on any trade for him is if they are getting a youngish top 4 dman(preferably RD), with term or a lock to extend in return. Neither player nor the 2nd do much to move the needle for Tampa, and while the 1st has value, it would only be to then use to flip for a top 4 RD. Since that puts all the risk on Tampa to then have to try and make another deal, all while also having to.replace Cirelli, it's a fairly easy pass.

Offseason
Offense isn't the issue with the team. The defense has been progressively worse now for 3 years. If Duclair costs 4 million, someone else can pay it. Use some of that money and the money spent on the horrid Dumba, on a real RD upgrade like DeMelo, Walker, Chatfield etc. DeMelo fits best but there will be others available. A weaker F add for the top/middle 6 will be acquired, but that's acceptable provided the defense is back to a top 10 unit again.

TBL offseason moves v5
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Well, speaking as a Sabres fan they already have Thompson and Cozens as their top two Centers. Both of them make $7 million a year. Even if you’re going to use Cirelli as a number two center it means one of them is a $7 million third line Center. Not exactly a great use of capital. The third line guy who doesn’t get a lot of power play time will not see much in his numbers. Even if he’s getting Selke votes, if he’s only putting up 30 to 40 points, it’ll be hard to justify paying that much unless the cap goes up to $100 million. I’m not saying it’s right, but there were fans who got on Michael Peca‘s case while he was here for not putting up bigger numbers. And that’s the type of player we really need, a physical face off winner. I see Cirelli as a more skilled speed guy, like Most of Tampa’s roster. But he doesn’t put up the numbers that the other guys do. Probably because he’s doing all the dirty work they aren’t.
But you’re right Tampa probably has no plans of trading him anyway. And this trade is much like all the proposals around here revolving around Brady Tkachuk. There is an in-division trade penalty where teams expect more than a good player is probably worth because they have to play against him more. The Sabres would be better off looking for a third line Center From a team not in our division, that they can get for a better price than the premium an in division trade would cost.
I disagree with your assessment of both the 11th overall pick and Kulich. This year‘s draft may not be as loaded as last year, but I would have to think the first 20 players are all NHL players unless something happens to them. Kulich is a small, skill player with a great shot. He probably needs to get a little bigger just to be able to defend himself at the NHL level, but the kid is barely 20 years old. Talent like his would probably thrive in Tampa if we traded him there.</div></div>
Granted I'm not as familiar with Sabre prospects, but Kulich seems like the guy that Tampa would target if they were moving a big piece. He seems close to NHL ready, plays a solid 2 way game, and thought he had a little size. As far as the 11oa, they sometimes make it, but it's definitely not a lock. The player is also likely several years away, which is why if Tampa did trade for a pick in that range, given I believe they are still trying to compete, would likely be used in another trade to add a big name Dman or F. I think it's something like 7 or 8 of the last 20 #11 picks either made the league or seem to be trending in that direction, so it's definitely a gamble(especially in a less strong draft class). I've had more than a few Buffalo fans offer the 1st+lesser piece for Cirelli, so I upped the price given Tampa doesn't have to move him and it would be a division rival. I suppose if Tampa had another deal in place ready to go where they used thec1dt+whatever to add a top 4 dman or slightly cheaper top 6 F, then maybe. Without the 1st though, I doubt Tampa considers any offer unless a high level prospect is involved perhaps.
