Marner has more than 5 playoff points three times in eight years. That's not good enough for someone that makes as much as he does. Nylander was never that bad a playoff ghost because 7 million, you're not expecting world destroying numbers, just produce a bit, and he did that sporadically. Nylander was very streaky to start his career. Marner just goes cold. Remember when he had more DoGPoG penalties than points in the Habs series?</div></div>
My point is Nylander survived his early scapegoat years and has made improvements, Marner had 14 points in 11 games the previous playoffs and in this playoffs the Core 5 only started in 2 games (Matthews left early in game 4 making it really 1.5 games together) and everyone is down playing the fact Marner's ankle injury wasn't at 100%.

You obviously forget early in Nylander's career, it was HIM that the fans and media said was a floater/ghost in the playoffs.
5 goals in his first 25 playoff games.
Willy had been the scapegoat before Marner.
15 goals in his last 29 playoff games has defused that title.
BUT... Marner has average a PPG adding the last 3 playoff seasons up so...that just shows the fans/media are reaching for a scapegoat rather than accepting that they are losing to the better teams.

LOL.
I'm sure Berube will not want a chance to try and coach an Allstar forward who receives Selke votes each year.

I'm sure the toddler Willy remembers Calgary very well, lol... Birthcity means nothing when he spent the following decade living in USA.
NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE favors the player in decissions not the team.

Nylander is American, from the age of 3 yrs old til age of 13 his dad played solely on American cities.
Marner has already said during his season exit interview that he wants to be a Leaf.

It's a shame Dubas allowed Brazeau go to free agency.
If he is a B's style forward than for sure he'd be a Berube favorite too.

I have a hard time imagining Berube being impressed by the under sized injury prone Robertson who'll have to make the team or get lost on waivers.
In short stints Robertson has shown the desire/grit/heart/talent to be a top 6 forward but also looks lost and gets caught floating in stretches too.

Necas is barely a Nhler.
haha...
Now that I got your blood boiling, it's still an easy no from the Leafs.
Look at the past 5 years, Marner has scored more goals in each season compared to Necas and Marner isn't even known for his goal scoring abilities !!!
Necas has 11 playoff goals in his career, Marner has 11 playoff goals in his career with playing less games and going back to back 0 goals playoff seasons !!!
Necas +/- stats are pathetic compared to Marner; Necas +20 in regular season and -3 in the playoffs, Marner +110 in regular season and +10 in the playoffs.
Necas is a step below Nylander.
And Marner is still a step above Nylander as an overall player.

You don't know Jarnrok obviously, he is not a 4th liner, he is a utility player (play anywhere in the lineup), he can be a short term top 6 forward if needed.

RUN IT BACK FOR OPENING NIGHT WITH CRAIG BERUBE
I think Tanev gets $5 million on a 2 yr deal, $4.5 sounds good if you want to commit to 4 yrs.
I don't think you can give Liljgren a 2 yr deal, I believe that'll end in UFA as he'd be 27 yrs old at the end of that contract.
I give both Robertson and Dewar a contract under $1.15 million on short term because that is the max amount a player can get buried in the Ahl with without a cap penalty' like Reaves and McMann would be 200K to bury.
I guess we should look at ex Flames or ex Blues players to reunite with Trev and Berube. I was hoping Ex Flame/Leaf Riititch would hit UFA but he's staying a King.
Robertson is on the bubble, hard to imagine he fit into a Berube style of game.
I too hope a rookie makes the team, the competitiveness of rookies usually keeps the vets on their toes.

Vladar is good option, if he is healthy and the Flames have faith in Wolfe or want to tank next season by trading both Markstrom and Vladar and use career jouneyman backup goalies to insure they get a Top 3 pick next summer in the Draft.

Wrong, It'll be easier and less painful to bang my head off a wall than try to hold a conversation with you and your tainted opinions which you believe are facts.
Here's a fact, 17 (actually 18 since Tre added Lyubushkin just like Dubas had) players who played in the playoffs for the Leafs were leftovers from Dubas.
So when you think you are knocking Tre's team, you are in fact knocking Dubas team.
