Remove Marner and the Leafs still don't do that.

Freddie at $3.4M is a cap dump. He's not a goalie who can play under pressure.

I'd rather Robertson to Necas. Necas is a perimeter playmaker. Leafs have enough of that.

Doesn't even account for Lili.

Canes don't touch this. Marner is a playoff ghost, and Necas just had his best postseason to date. A new coach, and there's a player here that may very well explode to be better than Marner, who gets a lot of his total from paying with the best goalscorer of the generation

Necas is barely a Nhler.

haha...

Now that I got your blood boiling, it's still an easy no from the Leafs.

Look at the past 5 years, Marner has scored more goals in each season compared to Necas and Marner isn't even known for his goal scoring abilities !!!

Necas has 11 playoff goals in his career, Marner has 11 playoff goals in his career with playing less games and going back to back 0 goals playoff seasons !!!

Necas +/- stats are pathetic compared to Marner; Necas +20 in regular season and -3 in the playoffs, Marner +110 in regular season and +10 in the playoffs.

Necas is a step below Nylander.

And Marner is still a step above Nylander as an overall player.

Nylander is a Necas comparable. In a less defensively demanding system, I think they're easily equal in production. That said, Nylander's better than Marner. Marner ghosts in the playoffs where Nylander tends to do the opposite.

A new GM and Willie having 50games of career stats that had him on pace for over a 120 points gets 11.5M. He came back to the regular Willie after the contract extension. Trev has his Huberdeau 2.0 with signing Willie. If Marner is gone next season and Willie has to play on the topline all year he will be a 80point player. Top pairing d-men in the playoffs matching up against Willie will be a rude awakening.

You obviously forget early in Nylander's career, it was HIM that the fans and media said was a floater/ghost in the playoffs.

5 goals in his first 25 playoff games.

Willy had been the scapegoat before Marner.

15 goals in his last 29 playoff games has defused that title.

BUT... Marner has average a PPG adding the last 3 playoff seasons up so...that just shows the fans/media are reaching for a scapegoat rather than accepting that they are losing to the better teams.

Marner had 3 points in this postseason... 3... for 11 million. Marner has more than 5 playoff points three times in eight years. That's not good enough for someone that makes as much as he does. Nylander was never that bad a playoff ghost because 7 million, you're not expecting world destroying numbers, just produce a bit, and he did that sporadically. Nylander was very streaky to start his career. Marner just goes cold. Remember when he had more DoGPoG penalties than points in the Habs series?

My point is Nylander survived his early scapegoat years and has made improvements, Marner had 14 points in 11 games the previous playoffs and in this playoffs the Core 5 only started in 2 games (Matthews left early in game 4 making it really 1.5 games together) and everyone is down playing the fact Marner's ankle injury wasn't at 100%.
