A Scouts Proposed Marner Trade
I absolutely hate the idea of trading Mario after trading Hertl. This team needs a leader as they rebuild and you have to be careful about trading all those guys away.
But this is pretty fair. Marner would obviously be flipped at the deadline and possibly get back more that what they're giving up here, while helping Celebrini develop.

Gushchin and Bordeleau are ready. I think Smith, Cardwell, and Musty will seriously push for a spot. And Same goes for Shakir on D

Celebrini rookie year
I like some of the signings but Andersson will likely cost more, but also makes no sense from the Sharks perspective to spend future assets to get a guy who won't help in the long term. they could wait one more year to see if he hits free agency to try and pick him up.
I think DeMelo gets more. I like Amadio but not with all the other signings. Amadio, Brossoit, Duchene (if Cooch is healthy), Kubel are just unnecessary signings that homegrown guys deserve those spots WAY more.

The only thing the Sharks don't need is LWs and you have them taking two at 14 and 33 lol. RW and RHD are by far the biggest needs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>Respectfully - this was not the total point of the post but appreciate your comment (except for the condescending’lol’).
If MG or MF were worth a 1st, they should have been traded. Ok take Sasha out and get nothing for him. Or the Canes can just move Necas elsewhere. Seems like a top 6 RFA who wouldn’t be someone the Sharks could get on the market.</div></div>
Because they don't want to trade them? That's why they weren't dealt.
Granlund had 60 points in 69 games on the worst offensive team in like 20 years. He'd easily get a first at this years deadline if they don't look to extend him.
Ferraro is literally the heartbeat of this team and as I said, his high price is due mostly to his leadership and what he means to the team. Objectively he's MAYBE be worth a 1st, but they avsolutely don't want to move him, therefore he costs a lot more.
Again, this isn't some late 1st rounder, this is 14th overall.

Lol what? Necas is a solid player but Granlund (worth a 1st at the dealine), Ferraro (worth a 1st + given his value to the org), Chmelevski (worth around a 3rd rounder), and you add the 14th overall on top of that?
This is awful for the sharks

NO ONE WANTS ANDERSON!!!
Anderson has an extra year which is literally the only thing the Sharks care about right now. Sharks have like 40 mil in space, they don't need to shave off 1.5 mil.
They have all the bottom 6 forwards they need already. They don't want another. They could get a player twice as good in FA

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. These guys who are killing it at the lower levels are going to get NHL time in the next couple years. Not all will hit, but it'll be a lot of fun.
Also random rant, but the fact that they can't stream every preseason game in this day and age is crazy.

Honestly I don't even think it's that far away. Smith, Celebrini, Musty, Bords, Gushchin, Shakir, Thompson and Graf are all guys who could legitimately compete for a full time NHL spot this next year. And then Cardwell, Robins, Halttunen, Bystedt, Lund, Pohlkamp, Cagnoni, Edstrom, Pulli could be in that spot in a year, some of those guys with an outside chance to get a shot THIS year.
The next couple years will be fun to see a lot of new guys get shots in the show

Missing Cagnoni who I honestly think has the highest ceiling of any Sharks d-man prospect. including Yakemchuk
Also, Pohlkamp I'm going to call it now will be a 5'10" version of Pesce. He looks like a fantastic 2-way d-man.
Also don't sleep on Rimashevsky. Had a really solid year in the KHL as a draft +1. 6'2" sniper right wing. There's not a lot of footage obviously but what I have seen, he looks awesome

My Preferred Offseason Moves

this post definitely got more hate than it deserved, I think it was just because of how significant the overpay was.
I agree we should be looking to scratch 30 wins next year</div></div>
That's true but you do see it every once in a while. Off the top of my head I think of Wright and Byfield. Laf and Kakko probably should have started in the AHL.
My thought process was more to show that you can overpay three guys who will really help the development and culture of a rebuilding team, take on a cap dump who honestly is stil a very solid player, and STILL be nearly 15 mil under the cap. If it's short term deals it really doesn't matter how much they overpay.
The first big raise will be Zetterlund after next year, then Eklund after that. Everyone else will be three years from now, or will be on bridge deals like Thrun, Shakir, etc. who haven't quite proven themselves yet

My Preferred Offseason Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>Fair enough, I would just go 1 top 6 fw, 1 top 4 dman, play bords and gush this year and decide which one to move on from.
Absolutely we need some players to play around our youth. Im all for trading up, I just wouldn't do it while also taking on a cap dump.
We are still going to suck next year
I just think we do something along the lines of:
eklund - granlund - gush
UFA - Celebrini - Zetterlund
Bordeleau - Smith - Someone
My point is, we don't need to bring in 3 forwards to create competition, maybe just 1. Yeah playing a team full of youth isn't ideal at times, but we need to give every prospect a shot, I think that is how we will be most successful.</div></div>
I can agree with that. I do really want Gushchin to get the chance he deserves but I guess this is a very specific scenario in which we see every year, guys have unbelievable camps and some surprise signings. I could absolutely see Cardwell and Musty pushing for a spot next year out of camp. And having Domi there would be a fantastic 1/2C to slot in if Granlund gets dealt at the deadline. And then a young guy can jump in and take his spot on the wing.
I don't think the sharks should EXPECT to suck next year. They should be pushed to be around the 65-75 point range in the standings (yeah not great, but playing competitive hockey).
I personally think Smith should go back one more year or spend some time in the AHL, but I can certainly see him making the NHL. Again, this would be a scenario in which he wants to go back one more year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>I hate these moves ngl, paying just to pay is a terrible idea.
keep bords, try to see if he shows his upside this year, play gush for the same reason, not giving our prospects a chance by having UFAs in the way is just a terrible idea. See our issue with the d log jam
I understand you have to sign a few vets to surround the youth with, but not this aggressive. Maybe Stephenson id be fine with if Celebrini and Smith stay in college.</div></div>
It's literally 3 UFAs on short term deals. I'm all for giving young guys a shot, but you absolutely need to make this team better to develop the young guys currently there. Eklund would have been screwed if they didn't put him on a line with Granlund or Hertl when he was there and healthy.
It's not paying guys just to pay guys. It's creating a hardworking, competitive culture while prospects join the squad full time. The worst thing they can do is let Celebrini come in and play with Bottom 6 guys and other rookies. That's how you destroy a players development.
I like Bords, but he just doesn't look like he'd fit in this roster going forward. If there's one top d-man prospect left at 10 then it would absolutely be worth while to go after them.
This isn't even aggressive. It's 4 new players from outside the current system, all vets who will be here for 1-3 years to be top 6/top 4 players to guide the young guys into those roles as they age out of that role. Again if the Sharks didn't pick up Duke and Granlund last year, Eklund/Zetterlund and other young guys development would have been completely screwed

I listed the three d-men that DO project to be first pairing d-men. This is a very good defensive draft in the top 12-15. Buium, Yakemchuk and Parekh are those guys and that was the basis of that trade lmao.

Depending on how this and the next 2 drafts go I can see Smith move to RW.</div></div>
I agree, I'm overestimating cost to sign Free Agents and trades, other wise you get a lot of push back on these lol
And yeah I think Smith is more likely to be a RW at least to start in the NHL. But I think a vet 2C would make the most sense. I'd be very happy to keep Granlund a few more years.

They could hit on literally 30% of them and still have an elite team. Also why I created a team with very solid UFA vets.
Saying the best prospect pool in the NHL isn't enough is just you projecting because Boston has a bottom five prospect pool and a very old NHL team
