I would not call Cooley's rookie season great by any means. Solid but very poor defensively.
Nemec on the other hand, I'd put on par with Slaf. He looks like a star. Wright has also been very good. I think he's still absolutely top 5

How far could Demidov fall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>The problem with that, is that Chicago has just as big a need for a franchise winger level talent to pair with Bedard as they do for a future #1RHD.
Given the disparity between finding a almost surefire franchise level wing is actually worse than finding a #1RHD. They should take Demidov over Levshunov, and then move back into range to nab one of the remaining D-men who's left in the 11-15 range.</div></div>
Could see that. But do they want a 1st unit with Bedard and Demidov? I am all for littles, but I think they would be better off with Levshunov and one of the middle-1st forwards (Iginla, MBN, Sennecke, Boisvert)

We literally see Dmen like Savard get moved for this return all the time. Brett Kulak, Marco Scandella, Andrew Peeke and even Ryan McDonough just happened.
I get that Carolina in your opinion wouldn't do this but this is the price a team will pay since it's literally a price paid a bunch of times by contenders

Nelson is unlikely to move and he's too old to look towards long term.
I'm not big on Rossi, but maybe a Necas/Rossi framework?
Granlund is very inconsistent. You never know if he's gonna pop off or go ghost.
EL is good but... he migh tdemand around 8m and I don't think he's worth that

Fire bednar
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackAce91</b></div><div>I can't understate how brutal of a take this entire post is.
Let's start with the most wild. Trading Rantanen for a bunch of okay. Rantanen is coming off back to back 100 point seasons, a perennial 40-50 goal, and player, and he's got 12 points in 9 games these playoffs. Even against Dallas, who is difficult to score on at their worst, he has 3 points in 4 games. That is fine. His defensive lapses can be outweighed by the offense. Marino and Mercer are fine, but no where close to Rantanen's value in a trade. You're looking at Eichel territory (a 1st, quality roster player, high end prospect, plus a pick), if not a bit more. Let's also just ignore that Marino is unnecessary in this trade if the Avs just hold onto Girard.
Next up, the Merzlikins trade and buyout. Just, why? Nichuskinen will either have his contract terminated, or a team will be willing to take a chance on him while giving up nothing in return. And if neither happens, he will still be a quality player for the Avs. There is no point in trading him for a couple picks and buying out a goalie that will cost the team millions over their entire window. The Avs will most likely not have to pay anything to move Val, definitely not that much.
Signing Samsonov and Ned, two of the most inconsistent goalies, to fix the inconsistent goalie problem is strange.
Finally, Landeskog is skating. He might even return during these playoffs. I don't see why he would be forced into retirement. Anything can happen of course, but it seems unlikely at this point.</div></div>
kinda wild seeing your own fanbase out-leaf the leafs but here we are lol
It'll settle down eventually but it's pretty funny that the solution to what this season was, whether they lose tomorrow or not, is to blow it up and fire the coach lol
