The devils would never in a million years accept that. I don't even think it needs to be explained, that is a horrible trade for them.

Prioritize Jarvis and Guentzel and then figure out the rest. Have 3-4 rookies ready for the jump to offset and bring ELCs. Skjei turbo and a couple others deserve a raise and will probably walk. Plenty of flexibility and options to surround core. Guys leaving for FA after deserving a raise is normal in cap era, teams have to be able to adjust and identify new talent - none of the true core (Aho Jarvis Svech Slavin) will get away.
Let’s put Pesce in other terms. Why would he go to a bottom dweller with nice weather for 12M (pretax in a horrendous tax state) versus get 30-40M elsewhere? Would you live in California for 3-4x less salary than 10-15 other cities in the country? Didn’t think so, be logical.</div></div>
Yeah taxes yada yada, Weather + icetime like no other place, Sharks could go right ahead and pay him $8m I'm not saying any of these are slam dunks or that any are even legit, I just thought it'd be interesting.. You canes fans are a salty bunch aren't ya? Touch a player on that roster and it's war lol. It's the offseason now boys go lay down.

Ferraro could fetch a 1st+ anywhere else, why would the Sharks add a top 10 2nd rounder. Trading him to move up maybe 15-20 spots? Not worth it for the sharks at all.

As difficult giving Couture up would be, this is a great chance, $0 retention plus a very decent package back.

Looking at them
Love the idea of Knight to SJ but for a guy who hasn't played in the NHL in over a year and is making nearly $5m for 2 more seasons, you're going to have to give up another asset and get about nothing back in return to dump that contract. Yes he's young and has great potential but he's had his personal issues that kept him out for this entire last season, that + his contract make it a salary dump.

Bring The Cup Home
I haven't seen any ducks trades for Marner and in comparison to the other mock trades I've seen, that is a very solid deal for Toronto whether their fans believe so or not. I like that lineup, not the how realistic it is with the amount of moves made, but very intriguing nontheless.

Why would Utah need retention? Nearly $40m in cap space.. Instead of a first, sharks get 2 2nds.

Also why would Pesce go to a bottom 5 team in California on a short term deal? Can just get that and stay in CAR or get a longer term deal.</div></div>
Salary Cap exists, that's why lmfaoo.
Only $27m available, here are the names they have to resign and the value they may demand:
Necas- $8-9m
Jarvis $6-8m
Pesce $5-7m
Skjei $4-6m
Teravainen $5-7m
That's $28m minimum right there^
Not even including Guentzel, Martinook, Drury, Noesen, etc.
How else are they supposed to make room for the guys who have gotten them this far?
Why would Pesce want to go to the best weather state in the country, get paid $6-7m to play here for a couple years, play top line minutes with one of the youngest teams in the league. Lol be real.

Overall I like the moves but it's a bit too active for reality. You typically see 1-3 Impact NHLer Free Agent signings per offseason for any given team. 5 + 2 new rookie signings + 1 cap dump roster player is a lot of change</div></div>
That's what I was going for, a more aggressive view point. I saw a lot of names that really strike me as guys we could grab if we pay enough. I'd be happy with even half the acquisitions I put here.

Granny can get a low tier 1st rounder himself, Benning is serviceable and cheap, 2 2nd's for a team who could look to partially buy to boost the new city's excitement and they have 3-4 2nd rounders in each draft, I bet they could part with a couple and not even blink.

No chance Vancouver would trade that much value for only Ehlers. If there was more added back to Vancouver, then it'd be a maybe but you're asking them to give up prospect #1 and a stud young goalie whose already a Vezina finalist. There is no point in doing this for Vancouver.

Dont roast me too badly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FunMustBeAlways</b></div><div>Right but the playoff underperforming, huge cap hit, full no-move clause and 1 year of term left before hitting UFA is what is dragging down his value. Given an extension comes secured it does raise the value some, but I wouldn't call that a given. Had the Leafs wanted to trade him 3 years ago, this would be a whole different conversation. I don't disagree that he's very talented - he is and would cost some pieces but the value the Sharks are giving up here is pretty over the top. Also I don't understand the rationale behind pieces that will "inevitably" be moved.
Addison and Wiesblatt have little value.
Granlund you can get a 2nd out of this upcoming deadline probably
Ferraro a late 1st
Halttunen is a decent 2nd round prospect.
And then another 2 high 2nd rounders in the next 2 drafts.
Granlund is the only player there who's most likely getting moved. Everyone else is a prospect or pick the Sharks should hold onto and Ferraro will only be traded for the right price.</div></div>
That's absolutely fair, and personally I agree with it as a sharks fan. As for my personal reasoning behind the pieces the sharks move:
Addison and Weisblatt do not have much value, absolutely correct, but I think we can all admit Addison is better than Klingberg who they gave a shot to because they need puck movers on the back end, gives them that. Ozzy to me projects as a solid 3rd line guy that is a SOB to play against, while it may take him a few more years to reach that ceiling, he could be very good for a team that lacks those types of players. (not saying I want to get rid of ozzy at all, I think the leafs would be genuinely interested in him.
Granny, yeah he doesn't make a lot of sense for the leafs, but maybe he can help sure up the top 3 centers for 1 year, or they can flip him.
Ferraro is exactly what they need in terms of defensemen and human.
The other pieces is something for them to use as trade bait, or inevitable roster players.
Laying it all out now, absolutely an overpay. I do however still believe that a deal of this magnitude Grier would not do without a long term extension. Mitchy also doesn't strike me as a Grier type of player. If we're speculating here, Draisaitl absolutely screams "grier player" to me. But that's for another thread .

If sharks land Eiserman & Mack, I'd be super excited, only take him if all the solid d-men are off the board. On another topic.. Curious to see what Devils' fans thoughts are with a 10th overall pick and a stacked team though, what do you think the devils do?

Love this as a sharks fan, and can't see a sens fan complaining either. Sharks get a true established puck mover on the back end, which has been an issue without ek65. As well as a dynamic goal scorer. Health concerns on both guys for sure, but I'd love to see this kind of aggressiveness from Grier.

Sometimes teams just fall in love with prospects. As of right now, it's known that they have interest in him, how much is the question. Watching his game, he really is so so good. I think he gets the jump over any of the dman below him in this mock due to reports of Montreal having interest in him already.
